video forgot the top boy beautiful girl in hackney sample in the intro tho
this one is unreal
Lapalux sampling Thundercat's cover of George Duke from his first album. Still my favorite Thundercat album to this day
Tbh it’s a hard thing to fully elaborate on, it’s mostly a subtle vibe that I pick up from his interviews where he seems to be a bit egotistical.
He’s basically a true hip hop conservative, he was the man behind “What They Do” which was great but it kind of invented the lame “real hip hop” mindset, during the golden era he was crying about the state of hip hop more than ktt does in 2023
He said that even after hearing Southernplayalistic he still thought the south could only make “booty shake music” and it took atliens to convince him otherwise, idkkkk kinda sus
He uses the word “microchop” way too often simply because it’s a term he technically invented to describe dilla’s chops, but it’s almost like since he came up with it, he will use it 10 times in any conversation about sampling even if it doesn’t quite apply
And I think he has some degree of self awareness today on these things so I’ll give him that credit, I do think he’s a genius but he just gives off a big headed, smarter than thou vibe
this is a better use of that silent hill track, less complex but it sounds kinda weird against ye's voice imo
