Hollywood hiring uncreative “writers” who plagiarize when you have me right here

It doesn’t have to change your enjoyment of the movie but it’s still f***ed up if true. I mean some of you make music and would be livid if it happened to you

I’m reading the original Frisco script now to compare. I’ll still like the movie no matter what tho

    Let us know

Oh comparisons already came out? I haven’t seen

Well if they stole straight up dialogue or not shouldn’t be up for debate being it can easily be proven or debunked. Why would oh boy make such a bold claim

Don't care. Especially it works like a Hal Ashby film.

So I read Frisco then I read Holdovers. Although there are similarities I don’t see a case for plagiarism. I think if his movie got made he wouldn’t be making these claims. People might compare the two but there’s enough different in them for them each to be their own thing.

Its main claim is that both leads feel like they could be played by Paul Giamatti doing his grumpy shtick but it’s not like a grumpy old person forming a bond with a kid is a highly unique premise. It’s the journey they go on that differentiates the story each time it’s told

I understand he feels a way because Payne did read his script and passed on it then made his own version of the same genre but I don’t see it personally.

In the end, the writer making the claims is getting a book he wrote adapted into a movie by Edgar Wright so there’s that to look forward to and if that’s a success he might have the leverage to make his Frisco script into a movie and people can compare for themselves
