Finished the Short Stories (I might look into the Backstage stuff too) and now I’m debating what to do with my life now after beating everything.

Gonna be hard playing ANY game/narrative that’s not this (even Nier & Witcher) Everything else is weak in comparison

Will probably play Umineko some time next year since I hear great things about that too and a few other PC VNs, but I doubt I’ll like them better than Fata Morgana

i genuinely think nothing will beat this story for me, regardless of the medium. like i said, gonna be chasing this high forever no idea what i've seen/read/played even remotely compares to this.

lmk how umineko is. have pretty much heard that it & muv luv alternative have stories that are just as good, but like you mentioned, don't think anything is beating this lol. only off-putting thing about those two is how dated they look. those sprites & the UI aren't the best looking in the world

Fragment story was sad as s*** man and I like that you see both sides of it. When they revealed it wasn't a dream and Morgana was really there. But Jacopo was a deformed shadow and couldn't speak most of the time there He wasn't even holding a lute

Also that Imeon story was great and wished SHE ( ) somehow showed up again

Reincarnation was great, I like how they wrapped everything up. Favorite "couple" was Morgana & Jacopo|| Wish somehow the ||white haired girl|| came back but that's impossible. Something is def wrong with ||Pauline|| lmao. Anime artstyle took some time to get used to, Yukimasa looked weird af. But I got used to it, I loved what the artwork looked like during night scenes. Voice acting was amazing and added to that one scene where Morgana snapped at ||Jacopo when she remembered everything. Giselle & Michel was hilarious. When the credits rolled, I broke.

Speaking of the soundtrack, this s*** smacks. Disc 3 literally is nothing but sadness and also my favorite songs like "Her Dying Voice"

i've seen sprite replacements for umineko, but don't think they look all too great. believe the ps3 ones are regarded as the "best"? i'll have to just get over that hurdle at some point. definitely doesn't have the same charm at fata morgana (granted, it's much older so i can't really hold that against it lol).

the base story probably does have the best story, since it's the culmination of so many different plot points and their resolutions (and requiem for innocence couldn't hit nearly as hard without it). the story of requiem for innocence just hits so hard man it really made me appreciate jacopo & morgana as characters so much more. then their story in reincarnation

pauline & yukimasa some freaks, but still enjoyed their stories, despite not having as much development as the other "couples"

i need more from the same team that worked on this. believe novectacle is working on another game/VN, so i'm very curious to see what we get from them next. though now that i'm looking more into it, it might be this? also possibly scrapped since now their twitter is just saying "working on a new game" instead of this title, but the page for it is still up on their website.

Yeah I saw lol, the old style was ugly af but the newer one kinda has the Ace Attorney look to it which I'm not too sure about. Then again, Raging Loop had a weird artstyle for a VN as well but I grew to liking it

The main story was such a incredible ride, almost feels like I lived in the story. I completely hated Jacopo until Reincarnation & was iffy on Morgana until Final Door, don't know how the tf the writers did it Even had me feeling kinda bad for the Swordsman in that Door as well somehow

Yeah for sure, I wasn't expecting the menu to change after beating any of these, especially to that even the soundtrack broke me. Feels like a legit album. I can't listen to 1 song without thinking about a scene from the story

it looks like the best way to read umineko is either the 07th mod or project umineko. gonna have to do a bit more digging, but it looks decent with project umineko (syncing voice acting, better sprites, UI), so i might just do that and call it a day.

they did make an april fools VN a few years back with the characters from fata morgana. pretty sure there's an english sub playthrough if you wanted to check that out. only a few hours long iirc.

Yeah I'm for sure playing Umineko next year along with a few others. Felt like I lacked in VNs this year. I did play this, Death Mark & NG, and Fatal Twelve this year though so not too bad.

Definitely gonna look into that, sounds funny. I'm currently doing the backstage stuff on PC and that's funny as well

Very happy I got it, alot of what ifs and stuff I hope is canon in it. That pic of Jacopo waiting in the chair with a Revolver and The White Hair Girl holding the bloody Swordsman on page 61 is hard.

I was trying to pick another game to play after this, but I keep thinking about this game Was going to start AC Ezio Collection, but the churches & chapels remind of this. And was going to start Mafia Trilogy but I keep thinking about Door 3 Apparently the next game I play shouldn't be story heavy

i don't think i played anything after i finished up the stories on this. definitely couldn't do anything with a story-focus. would be unfair to whatever i'd be playing next

I've got it next to my P5R Phantom Thieves Edition, SMT V Fall of Man Edition, KH3 Deluxe (wish there was a better collector's edition for that tbh). i also wish i got those Nier ones. they're f***ing insane man. especially the White Snow Edition on the fence with picking up the AI Somnium Files Nirvana Collector's Edition. I do have like $130 credit at Gamestop, so I could get it for free
