I did a dopamine detox (indirectly) after suffering a loss 2 weeks back, there were so many positive results & I’d highly recommend it to anyone who’s going through the motions during quarantine

Not only is there mental clarity but there’s many indirect benefits

Unplug yourself & reap the rewards !!

Edit 2: May 22, going on another one, it may be for a few days or maybe a week ☺️

I just didn’t use the internet, watch TV or listen to music for a week and some change

I was really sad because I lost a friend, it wasn’t on purpose

Why? It’s kinda bullshit to say it has any medical benefit, but there’s def a psychological victory there

    RIP to your friend

What did you do in that time instead, especially in quarantine

I would have thought things like listening to your favourite music would release dopamine

Well I did it indirectly so I’m not too sure

I was just too sad to eat or do anything entertaining

My free time was spent crying, occasionally I’d walk to her favorite spots she’d like to hang out and just reminisce

She was big in nature, so I would just frequent around parks, places with open fields & nice views

    I don't think it's completely necessary

just train your behavior with rewards by discipline

both methods get rid of the same problem which is short term gratification

It was indirectly but can you elaborate? When I came off from the fast everything felt better

    Even the music

So if you're fasting completely, you're just delaying the long term gratification related to anything that stimulates dopamine.

If you look at the way you'd train a pet (lol) rewarding yourself intermediately works too if you have the discipline to do it. 1 hour of studying or whatever = 30 minutes of chilling. You'd appreciate the leisure time more.

whatever works best is whatever is easier for each person to follow through with

damn that seems like it would be so hard to do for me. im pretty addicted to quick dopamine rushes and stuff like that. been listening to music for ~8 hours a day for years. maybe i should try it just for a few days or something

very sorry for your loss btw ❤️
