and i don’t even like her music like that personally but say so is objectively a clear hit from the first time you hear it. gwen stefani inspired hook + calvin harris style revamp of old disco/funk inspired records is an easy call.

and i’m not for the comparisons or putting women against each other, but as far as ability goes, none of them could compare. she’s not outrapping nicki or rapsody or noname but in this mainstream lane she’s actually giving some sort of variation and creativity with the visuals which is needed. a lot of the real ideas and fun stuff is happening on an underground level because pop stars expect to go #1 just because of who they are, regardless of effort within their output.

i saw a tweet that said no male artist is coming through with visuals like doja cat and it was clearly tweeted and retweeted by a crowd that is completely unaware of what tyler and kendrick have been up to. that’s the pop crowd that’s dancing to her song on tiktok.

but as far as hip-hop and R&B fans it seems like she’s slowing building her name and solidifying herself.

and there are several viral videos of her performing in front of huge festival crowds that seem completely disinterested. and most of those crowds are white kids.
