What I got from this whole thing was these 5 things:

Jay Z might be the only person in this entire world that Joe Budden actually treats with respect. Which is hella odd but whatev.

Rory had the most level headed post-reaction out of everyone there besides Parks.

Mal dumb thinking the show should've stopped completely lmfao.

Telling someone and agreeing on the 1st pod post-break that everyone should leave just to come back and tell that same person that they "abandoned" the show, is borderline insanity.

Mal literally sounds bar for bar like Joe Budden on episode 141 ("everyday struggle") and 142 ("sean's house). I'm being dead serious, listen to his complex rants on both these episodes and Mal is saying damn near the same thing.

Also they'll be aight. if Mal packs up and leaves it is what it is.

Jay worship bs aside, that wasn't my point. My take from that was Joe being stuck on being laughed at by his friends in favor of someone he was beefing with for years, that he had legitimate grievances with.

When Mal and Rory are talking about friendship and how they're built different and saying Joe was in the wrong for keeping s*** pushing business wise on the basis of their years long friendship & not dropping everything to resolve their issues, especially Mal with all they literally went through dealing with Jay at Def Jam, they don't have much leg to stand on.

And I found how Joe dealt with Rory's rebuttal in regards to Complex was really good & telling. When Joe left, suits took money off the table. Joe doesn't feel much of a way because he knows his value, value that through trials and tribulations of getting in his own way and others dogging him, he spent a long time & a lot of effort getting to this stage. So when Rory & Mal peace out, they get replaced (like Joe did) and niggas talk about how the pod is better and feels fresh because they're gone. outside of pure legacy value of familiarity, what do they bring to the table?

Rory's complex a***ogy doesn't hold because they don't have Joe's value, and Mal thinks they're entitled to more than they're worth in regards to calling the shots. Joe's a greasy nigga and will always be one, but nah, them niggas ain't got it like that.

Joe was even like "even if we don't pod, we're still gonna talk right?"

But Rory and Parks both weren't there for when Jay was f***ing over Joe at Def Jam. They don't have the same emotional investment in said beef cause they weren't around, so of course they're gonna look at it funny. And Mal, for all intents and purposes, grew up around Jay. That nigga's like family to him

Your Complex thing is right though. This the best he's ever expressed how it actually went down but I'm not gonna hold that against him too much, those 2 everyday struggle episodes he was mad as it just happened so I get it (even tho, he said he didn't feel "respected" )

Your last point is exactly why Mal probably is validated in feeling how he feels though. How do you expect to text your friends exclamation points and tell them the pod is none of they business (there's diplomatic ways you go about that as a boss. That's the one "boss" class that Joe missed.) and still push that "we're still gonna be friends" card?

Joe doesn't have the same emotional plight Rory and Mal do in regards to them being benched because he literally has bigger things to worry about. For the latter party the pod is the biggest thing going in their lives, straight up.

Mal was a nobody with astronomically bad sports takes & a nepotism card that got him a friendship with Julius Randle. and for Rory, Palooza was getting me too'd, doesn't understand why the paps are on him while he rocks his dirty long-sleeve, doing his girl filthy. He can't even take a month off to finish his Khaled style album. Joe was 100% in the right to put him on the bench because that s*** with his girl was wearing on him and weighing down the dynamic that Rory & Mal say give the show so much value.

Jay is the only person Joe respects because he wants to be him, period.

Joe's definitely learning this boss s*** as it comes and it shows. When you employ your friends, more baggage is going to come with it. Of course they're gonna feel a type of way when Joe tries to be on his "I'm a business, man" s***, but if they don't get where he and Parks are coming from in regards to keeping s*** moving through the salt then they'll never get it.

eh, the pod is the biggest thing going on for Joe too. Yeah, he's putting his stuff into other things but he himself repeatedly said this pod is his life's work lol.

Palooza got f***ed over more because of COVID, let's be real. Party collectives have been getting me too'd and exposed for years and niggas kept it pushing. But I'm not saying Joe wasn't right in benching Rory, I can just see how he handled it could've been way better.

Joe wants to be Jay but he's tryna bypass a loooooooot of stuff that Jay had to do to become Jay. That's always the issue.

The only person that didn't understand that was Mal tho. Which I agree, and Mal (not really having business sense) was wrong to think the show should've stopped completely. That's partly why I gotta give respect to Rory, he seemed the most level headed in that part of the episode.

Jay n Joe beef was one sided. Yea Hov sent a few bars his way, but Joe 100% cared about it way more, and for many years.

I'm just saying, Joe clearly felt a way about them not riding with him and letting Hov just dismiss him, even if Joe was too invested
