Joe is a businessman who saw them as employees and did not let the friendship interfere with business.

but they can only pull it off with joe around. joe is the ignition. those guys have nothing substantial to offer if joe's not around. mal is not meant for this media or podcast s***. he only joined cause of joe. he wouldn't be on other pods as a guest if it wasn't for joe. i personally don't care what he has to say if joe's not around, and im sure im not alone on that

Parks has tried to stay neutral but I think he took offense to Mal suggesting that pod should just stop because he was in his feelings.

Parks is an an employee who knows his role but Rory and Mal's antics could have affected his bread.

Also it looks like Rory and Parks might have issues because at the last 20 seconds, he defended Parks and called Rory a piece of s***.

This is just me speculating based on the events. Take it for what it is.

Mal showed up late to every Pod. Joe gave him a pass.

Mal barely says anything and is on his phone 24/7. Joe gave him a pass.
Mal gets show ideas pitched to him to grow his brand and does nothing with it. Joe keeps it moving.

Mal gets a raise when they have no deals. Joe suffers and hooks the guys up with more bread while taking less.

Mal sees what Joe is trying to build and doesn't help his "friend" with the work behind the scenes and claims he doesn't love podcasting while it pays his bills. Joe gets a Patreon deal and brings in monthly revenue.

Mal refuses to show up for a single Patreon episode. Joe lets that slide.

Mal hears there may be more money and sides with Raury. Joe is confused and tells him to stay out of the business.

Mal then takes a break, thinking he has leverage. Joe reminds Mal that he slept on his couch for a decade, and he was an employee with a contract.

Mal complains that Joe tried to replace him while he abandoned the Pod. Joe reminds Mal that he was someone else's replacement once too.

Mal goes on strike again. Joe shows him the unemployment line.
Mal is the dumbest nigga on the planet and a glorified entourage member.

Joe was looking out for him the entire time. At what point do you realize someone is taking and taking and not giving anything. You've got to cut the dead weight off no matter how much it may hurt you.
