I know I am just joking as I go because this is going to be along playthrough. I am enjoying it for what it is. Just going to be a long haul. I wish there was at least no other failed operations. The more I hear about it that I hadn't remembered 10 years ago the less grey it becomes. The Joel did nothing wrong people getting radicalized makes more sense

I get that but Abby openly knows that Ellie is connected to Joel because she heard the conversation . So why would she not have some level of understanding? Like she says he is doing the right thing but I don't really believe Abby would sacrifice her life for much of anything (yet). That could of course change. The death of a child versus a grown man is just different. I think Fireflies not giving Ellie a choice makes it weird all around

lol I didn't read summaries. I was SPOILED by a friend as I have said many times. I didn't just say "let me go online and read all the summaries". I have seen nakedjakey youtube s*** and got spoiled by a former friend

TLOU 2 I disagree with him slightly my focus more than goopy goblin gamer brain or much of what he says lies in if you don't care about that moment then your game motivation is different. As I have said. Game 1 was vaccine and you got to see various characters stories along the way but vaccine focus. Here its a larger story. If I cared about Joel or didn't already view him as the villain at end of game 1 for forcing me to kill people I didn't want to in gameplay then I would care more here

TLDR : I don't even find the goopy goblin gamer brain parts of Last of Us 2 that gripping. I am really just playing it so I can say I beat it and if Last of Us 3 is more my style. I respect it and those that could love it. Just isn't for me like many Sony games

My take:

1. Story follows Joel and Ellie
2. Story follows story of Ellie’s mom (who passed away during childbirth)

Ellie’s mom story directly connects to the cult s*** going on in Seattle. Gives us backstory and insight into the Seraphytes.

Cuts back and forth, parallel stories

I don’t know what the Joel and Ellie story is but ends with Abby and Joel dying in Ellie’s arms at the same time as Ellie’s mom giving birth/passing away with Marlene at her side

Sets the stage for Part 3 which will follow Pt 2’s events (Seraphytes, Abby) closely.

Why not? It keeps the integrity of Pt 2’a story but frames it in a more easy to digest way.

I don't love all parts of the story so far but the order they had at times of originally starting as abby and keeping Joel and Ellie being in the game a secret was cool to me. Although capitalism so you got to show Joel and Ellie. They knew some would be triggered to hate Abby based on her killing of Joel who some loved. . I personally didn't care and that is the entire basis of the story so far so its been a bit of a slog. Surprised there isn't more of a "what if there are other doctors to pursue vaccine" story or something.

I am going to be honest with you no matter the order you put it in I won't care too much about Seraphites and they were never going to fully expound on their backstory. Maybe in future games if they go more tv show style they mean more playable characters and playing from all angles

23 hours in almost done

Feels like it introduces so many characters that a lot of them don't get the full shine they possibly deserve. There are glimpses in many of them though. Show will definitely give them more time to cook. Rat King was cool. A little too much on Joel and love triangles on both sides that I wasn't invested in personally. Gameplay of Abby fun at least but . Tommy has so much plot armor lol. some of the deaths and how they are shown feels like shock value to make you care about them or reflect on your npc journey with them but again you kind of become numb to it. Tommy actually the last person I would want a DLC for . Seeing the perspective of Seraphites and Isaac will be cool in the show

Order of game works . Again as I said I wish some of the kills by Ellie of characters that we later learn of in Abby portion were more boss fights or in gameplay or at least varied quick time. Making so much mash square lowered some of the weight of it because we are mashing square and holding triangle all game. It feels involved in a sense but some part feels very on rails which I know some love, but it takes me out of gameplay personally because when its so specific about how it wants you to play or not play it changes it. Metal Gear Solid and Shadow of Colossus a good balance for me. I get that pressing or mashing square helped them know people wouldn't stop or drift into torture p\*\*\* area

The game is at times emotionally manipulative (not joel death) and plays on not just in game characters possible trauma but the players as well . It dances on so many various topics in such rapid succession at times that it feels like too much dip on the chip but I appreciate the attempt. Definitely swings more for the fences than last of us part 1\. Gets to a point where the gameplay loop of enemies got tired for me lol I would be more hyped to stealth some or take them out for the joy of scavenging. I am sure on grounded it would be more rewarding etc etc I played on moderate. Lev was cool but deserved a little more. Love Triangles galore then the kind of last minute Fireflies are alive and Rattlers. It was so dense and so much to take in but made for a solid 30 hours. Not my personal favorite game of all time but understand those that feel that way
