If you are a reviewer reviewing a game early before release date to compete with other reviewers, there's a line where you can't bash the game because this will ruin your partnership and chance to review the game early like everyone else.

If you need to make money, you'll do what you can to keep it alive and will be lenient in this business. Plus, this is ND, a big boy who's papa is Sony, who can outright make it hard to have connections with other companies from their influence. You think twice before you give it less than a 7.

These reviews can actually be legit, or it can be bs, I don't know. I like to read the more critical reviews and see why they dislike something and read positive reviews in case they touched on this subject. Gives me a better sense of what's happening for a game coming next week.

This a good read tho.. it ain’t really saying the game is bad just questioning beats and motivations which is valid. Negative reviews like this bolster a games worth to me at least cuz they concern a games ideas.

When I saw that State of Play gameplay tbh I thought it looked like it would be too similar to the first in a way.

But I started playing through the first game and

I see criticisms that gameplay feels “clunky”, and I get that in a way, but I love that heavy feeling that it has. It just fits in with the world, themes, and characters perfectly.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing

I’m taking all the positive and negative with a grain of salt and try to go in with kinda neutral expectations as far as story goes.

The most interesting things I’ve seen are people’s take on the violence, some people think it really adds and other think it really detracts from the game and is gross / overdoes it.

But gameplay on the other hand, it looks like I definitely enjoy that

Naughty dog obviously paid for these reviews but the last game deserved them anyway, so it’s no big deal
