One thing I don't get: Why is it that whenever reviewing ND games journalists always feel the need to put down the entire medium, as if being less like a game and more like another form of media (films) makes a work inherently better.

Sometimes it feels like they don't even like video games lmao

Videogame journalism is basically bottom of the barrel, which is why I don’t understand why people put so much stock into reviews

What does he mean by feel s***ty, explain in more details broman

It's consistently bleak and full of pity and "suffering p***" from all characters.. which makes sense in the world they live in but don't make an elegant game to play. I mean ND literally said "fun" isn't a word to use

Watch skill ups review... I hope I don't feel the same way about the game but it seems like he didn't hold back on what other reviews say about how exhausting it is to play this game.

He didn't say this exactly but it gave the impression of this game is only an escape to people who don't already feel s***ty irl cause this game doesn't help with that at all

I don’t think anyone is playing this game for a feel good story

I... have concerns about this game, and I don’t want to. The first game is the greatest video game of all time.

Yeah if I watched that review I would have been mad as hell, but yeah man we all knew that this game wasn’t going to be a happy story from the jump, but at the end of the day I want a greatly impactful story and I can learn something from it, to me that’s what gaming is about from my perspective

Neil has said many times that part 1 is about love, and part will be about hate.
And he talked about how it will revolve around violence and the effect it has on the people involved.

I'm completely fine with this game being extremely bleak and violent. I would expect nothing less from a game that takes place in a apocalyptic world full of cannibals and flesh eating infected people

  • Jun 13, 2020

Very first teaser of TLOU2 is shown
Ellie: "I'm going to kill every last one of them"

*Neil says game is about revenge and hate, and the plot is about Ellie witnessing some horrendous event that causes her to hunt down the perpetrators

Reviewers: "wtf why is this so dark and violent "

I think that's the big factor... Some may learn or get something from it or some may end up feeling empty and unproductive this is meant to be selective

These haters are clinging on to SkillUp’s review so hard to justify their narrative that the game is complete garbage. It’s actually so dumb I swear.

I wanted to post this comment from this other form that gives an example of why I hate sensitivity in gaming and if you feel that way then don’t play it

I do find it funny how some of these sites giving it a 10/10 still say that it’s not perfect lol

Thing is youtube is gonna be full of reviews like that once this game is out

I can already tell this is going to have a bad user score just from trolls all giving it a 1 without even playing it.

What is funny is that we have already seen multiple articles from people who admitted they hated the leaks they saw to the point that they didn't want to play the game and they literally ended up saying the game was as good as the first if not better. But these hater dumbasses won't care either way.

Its relative though. When you are giving s*** like RDR2 a 10/10, how can you say TLOU2 is not lol.

Also I don't think 10/10 was ever considered perfect. Its more like a game does so much ground breaking s*** and takes so many insane risks that you have to give it a 10 just on the balls it has.

and i think they consider their faults as nitpicks, not as serious detractors.

Yea I see where you are coming from. But tbh I consider part 1 a 10/10 even though it did have glitches in it

Pretty much he said the story isn’t good and that the gameplay is nothing special at all. Also apparently he wasn’t a fan of Part 1 so take that however you want.

Yeah I feel that for sure. Idk I guess it comes down to your definition of “masterpiece”. For me, it’s something (whether it’s a movie, video game, album) that has absolutely no flaws and is perfect in every way. For example, God is a Geek gave it a 10 but said that the story ultimately didn’t completely deliver on what was promised. I personally wouldn’t give such a game a 10 (maybe somewhere in the 9 range if every other aspect was amazing) but to each their own

Yeah story wise I 100% agree. As of now, it’s my favorite story ever in a video game

I'm not sure an actual perfect game exists tbh
Every game will lack in some departments, and be perfect in others.
At the end of the day it all comes down to execution.

For me TLOU 1 was something I connected to emotionally that still resonates with me to this day. As long as TLOU2 is able to leave a lasting impact on me, I will be more than satisfied

Why do people review games they don’t like. Like bruh that’s just plain stupid on ur part, but it is what it is
