lol part of the something that is off is visual style or cinematography for me . tendrils looked dope absolutely great coming out of mouth. Some of the shots great . Others lost me. CW show way too far though

CW show a lil far . I get what you mean but not CW show level. Something about either colors, cinematography or something feels off to me but I can't quite piece what yet. Not that I think a zombie apocalypse is a moment for the greatest visuals in the world but again as I keep saying I think of how my brain compares it to a 28 days later, children of men camera work or how they use angles to convey things

You're not completely wrong. They went with a videogame look.
I wouldn't say it's cheap because that's not something easy to do well but on some shots the colors looked fake. Especially on browns.

I mean the color palette is trying to emulate videogame colors. And that's something good and bad at the same time because, yeah, people are looking for a good videogame adaptation but videogames are not completely cinematic.
If they shot this in 60fps it would look exactly like a videogame.

So again because I am still unclear what do you mean by emulate the video game colors in a game that was inspired by apocalypse movies. Like you think there is a filtered like feel of the entire game ? Lack of colors? Lack of Saturation? Lack of contrast? Looks like its from a different era or world?
