Uncharted movie definitely had some effort put in besides for bad casting
Uncharted made money and you saw it in theaters
Is that a "curse" or them knowing they can put in low effort and NobodyWins gonna be there regardless
Mortal Kombat- I work at the studio that makes the games and Ed Boon has openly said the studio didn't listen to him for many decisions
Warcraft- Adapting a MMO into a movie is a terrible idea out right thats not a curse
Need for Speed- its a game about racing cars there is no mainline story that different from Fast and furious
Jumanji is a board game
Mortal Kombat still had good costume designs, some good fights, and visuals. You can’t tell me no effort was put in lmao idc if you work there or not.
Warcraft still had effort put into it with the visuals and cgi.
And so? It’s still a game and you told me to name some.
So what if it’s a board game?

Lmao you couldn’t do any of the stunts they did in the movie bro shut the f*** up and the scene at the end was fire.

You liked the newest matrix movie your point is invalid when talking about low effort and showing up to see it

there is no part that is cursed by doing the stunts from 4 games spanning 100 hours of content but not telling a story that people care about. That isn't a curse.
Halo tv show failing isn't a curse
They are often making major illogical changes because they don't believe in the source material

I liked that she was able to make it and its commentary on mental health, sequels, industry
Did I think it was the greatest movie of all time ? No.
Did I think it was low effort? Parts of it yes.
Is matrix resurrections better than uncharted ? Yes

No it’s not they’re about the same level of s***
It is a curse until something good is made
Arcane, Cyberpunk, Witcher are all successful

The story is what matters not the visuals
the best possible visuals are already in a cgi game
them not having good stories isn't a curse is my simple point. its a choice of effort
I believe in the Last of Us show. I will be watching the last of us show. But the last of us show won't be what makes studios believe in MOST video game stories that aren't as inspired by tv shows and movies. The really out there stories "curse" isn't over until there is a successful out there story that retains its game feel top to bottom. If people didn't tell Last of Us was based on a game they could easily think its an original property or a book
Thread getting weird but all I’ll say is even if this show succeeds all it means is other s***ty video game adaptations not more good ones
I think that’s El Chapo’s point?

Correct
Death Stranding got Kojima support so he won't let it be s***
Fallout , God of War comes down to who they put on it

I am rooting for the show and see it doing well

I would say some games are better off telling unique stories (I.e not the games) in the game world than adapting characters people already love but even that doesn’t work so

In short its just like why can't people just be hyped for or enjoy a show without before it even comes out "its gonna sweep the oscars, emmys, grammys and break video game curse with everything it does for humanity". Like chill I am in no way undermining the success of adapting a last of us into a tv show or movie. It is still a success while at the same time the game story itself is movie like. People have wanted to adapt it since it launched for that reason.
Breaking a curse to me is adapting a story that felt like it could only be told in one medium then it getting a successful movie. Like back when they were going to adapt Shadow of the Colossus , Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid and so many more I was like "how the f*** are they going to do that"
Games have become more like movie blockbusters or tv show as time has gone on writing wise

“Ellie should wear some make up.”
Mark my words, that will be a Reddit thread.
