Big plot spoilers tbh I’d rather see an adaptation where less people justify what Joel ends up doing, I feel like so many gamers turn a blind eye to the things Joel does simply just because they LIKE they guy, and less so because they’re actually weighing out the nuance of the decisions he had to make. If we get to the end of the season and more people are going “wait…. This is pretty f\*\*\*ed up. I get why he did this, but f\*\*\*”— that’ll be a writing win imo. I won’t walk away from that thinking “L show they didn’t make Joel lovable enough”

Nah I wouldn’t laughed at that take but I feel like they’re going to accomplish it by showing different emotions from Ellie. I already feel like episode 5 was huge for this. The ending of episode 5 we already saw a different level of desperation from Ellie in hoping she really does have a cure. In the last 10 minutes of that episode, it made me more sure that this Ellie would be willing to die for this cause than almost any moment with game Ellie. Game Ellie I still had slivers of “well s\*\*\* maybe she DOESNT want to die”,(even though I still felt like Joel made a hard and f\*\*\*ed up decision) but that’s just me
