    Different medium .

They have no issue altering and adding other details and back stories.

Guessing you thought it was cliche and simple ? As a show only watcher what would you like from it

so, what they're doing i've seen before. i think that, if you weren't so attached the source material, this would just be a drag. carousels and dancing, out of any teen love story. it's just not new to me.

you know whats new to me? the infected. lemme see those b******s.

yet again they spent so much time on an episode that could have been a conversation. you could have kept the main story pushing instead of spending an hour with another character that, yet again, dies in the episode she's introduced in. ellie could have explained this all to joel. it was wildly predictable and everyone and their mother knew how it was going to end, the second it started. did we NEED to spend an hour on this? yal saying this was DLC so obviously the original writers/gamemakers whatever didn't feel it necessary.

i ask, what did this add?

and to get my nickpick bullshit out the way...

joel f***ing dead. sewing up that wound aint gonna cut it. get some antibiotics in that boy. that was like a 5 inch deep wound. i hope that's what the next episode is about. but i might stop here and just wait for it to finish. binge later.

I’m not that attached to the source material so I get you . I said going into the series some would react like you because only so much of it is new or refined . Episode was partially fan service and gave Bella time to cook . Do I think it was worth a hour in remaining plot ? I don’t know yet

I recommend pausing then catching up for finale but without spoiling I will say no part of this show or game is about being realistic except when they are arguing action

Its okay if the show isn’t your greatest show of all time but if you are consistently underwhelmed, feel it’s cliche , never played the game then you may not love it . First game is cliche in some ways . Second game is over the top in some ways but it means a lot to some people so if they enjoy it let them enjoy it despite its faults . If it has faults for you articulate them but recognize many of these people even those that act like it’s the coming of Christ recognize these imperfections but still love that the story itself exist

i think it's worth discussion whether i'm into or not, because this all leads me to what disappoints me in modern TV and film in general...

no one has the balls to put money behind anything NEW in the TV and film space. it has to has a built in audience that will garner SOME sort of return, and that's mad disheartening. giving fans what they want is one thing. playing it safe is probably the same.

HBO giving a video game adaptation so much money instead of taking the same risks that they've repeatedly done and SUCCEEDED with in the past really breaks my balls.

I’ll say this, as someone who adores both games.

This isn’t really spoiler at all, but tagging in case people want to legit have zero idea of the future of the story

If you’re hoping at some point the infected become a bigger and bigger part of the core story you’re going to be let down.

Beautiful episode, Storm and Bella killed it. Seemed very accurate to the left behind dlc from what I remember.

Do you think if they would include more of the gameplay like elements it would be a “ risk “ ? The original game story is in many ways cliche or been done in movies tv shows . So unsure of what risk you want

the gay episode was really good and all but it wouldve been good if they kept it on joel and ellie for the sake of the story

That's been the a problem of mine for this whole season. Everything outside of Joel and Ellie isn't interesting enough for the creators to dedicate large amounts of time to.

If the drama/character moments were as good as the game in the show, we wouldn't be hearing complaints about action, tbh.
