I have my gripes with this episode but still think its one of the better ones kind of. No episode to me is perfect

This episode makes many changes from the game. Many show only watchers are loving it but I do want you to get your hot take out because some show only watchers love it. Others at time find it cliche or are at times underwhelmed. Opinions are all over the place. As you hinted in your post you don't want to knock the show for feeling at times cliche, predictable or done before but rather judge it based on its execution. David's town and the daughter are parts added to the show to add more context to it to some degree. Did it work? that comes down to each person. Felt part foreshadow of whats to come to me
David’s Town was where they met Tommy n em right? That episode was fine. I’d put in as one of the better episodes, along with the KCQZ episodes. The stuff with Joel’s daughter in episode 1 was good, other than initial shock at how she died, there wasn’t enough for me to have any emotional attachment.
So far only 3 points in the show has got a real emotional reaction out of me, Joel reading Bill’s letter and him mentioning Tess. The guy in KCQZ having to shoot and kill his lil brother then himself, and then Joel & Tommy reuniting.
