It feels like there wasn’t that much care beyond surface level stuff

I also felt like I was watching actors on a set and not characters in a situation

Part 2 will be covered by like 2 seasons it won’t be done in 1

fleshing that out at all here risks what they clearly want to be a twist in part 2 being spoiled completely for people

It is a good show.
But you cannot act like it measures up to the game.
I’m not saying it needs to.
But it feels sanitized..? Safe? Which isn’t ever felt in either game.
I understand it’s literally a TV show on a major network. But considering it’s HBO, I was expecting… more of everything?
Not infected. Or ‘action’. More character development. More time with them. The same mature attitude towards the subject matter. The show was VERY PG-13, from the level of tension, to the way it treated certain moments.

It is a good show. It’s also flawed. All I can hope for is that they double down hard next season on everything in the show.

my only real concern about this show is it seems like bella is as tall and she's gonna get so she may not "look" like an adult in season 2

I think that two more episodes would’ve GREATLY increased the overall quality and development.

I think they did a much better job here than in the game of creating a clear debate at the end they almost changed Joel’s purpose a little with some of the lines they added

his decision to me in the game seems like it’s only fuelled by the amount of time spent together

I love how this kind of changes the dynamic between Joel and Ellie.

When she said "it can't all be for nothing" you could tell that she was prepared to give her life up for the sake of humanity, and Joel, dealing with his attachment issues, was not ready to lose again, so he took away that decision from Ellie. Now their relationship is basically tethered by a lie and it might be a matter of time until Ellie starts to question their dynamic.
