Not caught up on the show but hearing some pretty mixed reviews on the finale. Are people mad about the execution or plot direction of the episode?
I’ve played the games btw.
Lets be real, who actually felt torn between saving Ellie or leaving her to die??
I know I felt worse watching Joel go on his massacre than I did controlling him and doing it in the game. Witnessing murder is much different than controlling a character and killing npcs.
I think one retcon I would have liked is showing Marlene give Ellie a choice. mentioning death was a risk
F*** no
Neil said "Marlene kill the only one possibly not justified "
How? If he didn't give Ellie back, she would have shot him.

Craig said this and got hate itt for saying it should be different than seeing pixels die.
A take I have that seems to be hot for people:
People give Joel too much leeway in conversations about what they would be willing to do for their own kids. Part of the difficult nuance at play here is Ellie is not Joel’s kid. People - especially parents - project themselves into Joel’s shoes and always place their a***yzing of it as themselves and their kid. But Ellie IS NOT Joel’s daughter. They havnt known eachother for a calendar year. Ellie has completely given Joel’s life light and purpose again. And I’m not trying to downplay his genuine love for her. But part of Joel’s trauma experience is this flawed mix up in his head of Ellie and Sarah.
And we get to see this DOES end up bothering Ellie later on.
I just kind of get tired of "Joel did the right thing because that's what I would do for my kid"… like okay? Sick, good for you. But that isnt his kid.
They went through more things together than most parents and their kids go through in their lifetime.

Are you really?
This episode has a 9.4 from 11k reviews on IMDb, and critic scores look pretty good too from what I’ve seen .

I don't know why. No matter how realistic the game is, npcs don't look or move like real people.
we the viewer do not see/hear marlene give ellie a choice correct? like she did not let ellie know hey we are going to get the cure! but we also will be killing you in the process!
we did not hear/see that correct? if so marlene deserved to go unfortunately.
also makes it annoying joel lied about it lol. def something reasonable he could have talked through with her that he would not have to lie about.
super excited to see where this show goes though lmao. have not played game so very intrigued how the story continues

In the games there's voice notes throughout the hospital from Marlene saying stuff.

interesting. thanks for this

Great season tbh. The end really nailed it. Any confirmation whether we get a new Ellie tho
also someone fill me in.
did people hate TLOU2 for storyline/plot issues, or was it just right wingers hating on "woke" s***?

"minor"
also someone fill me in.

Both but the very vocal part of it is the second part
I personally don’t agree with any of the complaints tho :)

One set plot issues
Another set those without fathers
Another set that hated a certain character that was introduced there's a few valid critiques to make on that character, but the others are dumb angry dork complaints
