We thought they'd recast the actress that plaid the 13 year old version of the character lol. Honestly they probably avoided doing it just because they didn't wanna seem like they were feeding into the internet backlash even though it's the logical choice

Nah before season 1 even premiered, Neil Druckmann said that Bella would be Ellie for the entire show

And Bella is 20 years old in real life, about the same age as Ellie in the game.

Her age in real life is irrelevent lol. She was chosen to play 14 year old Ellie because she looks like a 14 year old. I don't think I've ever seen a show not recast when timeskips like this happen unless the actress grows up with the show. (She was already 18 when season 1 was filmed) Very odd choice

It’s going to be that way for season 2 and it’s going to be that way for season 3. The showrunners aren’t going to recast just because people don’t like Bella’s face . They casted Bella because they loved them as Ellie

First season people just kept calling them ugly, and now people can’t stop talking about Bella’s looks again instead of discussing the actual show

It's not about any weird s*** like attractiveness for me, I don't even think she's a bad actress. Just miscast. I even dislike a lot of the writing they've done for the character. Show Ellie is just ass.

That’s a valid criticism to have for sure

I think Bella’s portrayal as Ellie improved with each episode imo. I think the scene when Ellie kills David is especially a standout moment for Bella

But I do believe that Bella will do a better job as young adult Ellie. Their portrayal should feel much more natural this time around now that Bella can act their age instead of being a bratty kid

What’s the difference between show Ellie and game Ellie in your opinion? I’ve only played TLOU1 and only played it once

Game Ellie is a little s***head but she's also empathetic and loveable, show Ellie is just.. kind of an a******. They also added the weird "enjoys violence" angle which really didn't become a thing until the second game.

The David episode was her strongest for sure
