i think it kinda mirrors the first game with joels daughter dying really soon

i feel like people got upset about joel dying bc its like ur 'losing' and alot of ppl dont like that, they just wanna win. the game looks like its gonna be a revenge type game, so i wanna see IF ellie actually gets to take revenge, if she does that would be super satisfying (if done right) but its also very predictable, so lets see where it goes. im all in loving this

Ellie didn't even kill abby in the end. HAHAHAHAHA. Shes killed thousands of people but when it was time to kill abby, she didn't.

Part of me is glad I turned it off right as I switched to Ellie at the mansion or else I wouldn’t have been able to sleep.

That being said f*** man I cried a bit when they killed Joel

i understand the angle of epiphany and how it all catches up to her

but it feels like shallow misery p***, i guess it doesnt sit right with me that the point of the story is a cautionary tale

when the first game is so grounded in that brutal world but still has a hope, a light at the end of the tunnel that makes it so much more compelling

The sole driving point behind the story of the sequel is a mess

The entire game punishes you for an action that you literally HAD to complete to finish the first game. There’s no agency, no choice, you’re shoe horned into killing what turns out to be Abby’s father. If you’re going to try and create a game where a player is going question their morality then work harder and give the player a choice. Trying to say “hey you f***ed up when you killed that surgeon that dies from literally any damage source gotta face the consequences now bud” is some stupid Spec Ops The Line bullshit. Don’t be lazy, branching stories have been done a hundred times in games.

The catalyst for part 2 is silly convenient s*** as well. The man Abby has been hunting for years just so happens to save her life, reveal his real name to her and follows her right into the middle of her camp.

There was literally no reason for Tommy to say “I’m Tommy, this is Joel” other than to rush the plot toward Joel’s death. The game even makes a point of guidelines that Joel hounds Jesse about simply because he patrols with Ellie. If he’s grilling mfers about not going here or not doing this you think it’d would be simple protocol to give a complete stranger your names and the location of your camp? That’s rushed out of character s***.

Most people expected that Joel wasn’t going to make it through the game, Joel dying isn’t even the issue. The issue is when his death is streamlined with seemingly no reasoning other than to drive the plot forward. It’s just cheap, shock tactics at that point.

There’s plot holes all over this s*** man, so much s*** happens just to go from a to b. We might have different definitions or sumn but to me that’s s*** writing
