Sugar is peak pop music but it ain’t hip hop
Hmmm yeah that's true
They said themselves they make pop music so maybe that's the direction now?
Believe it or not but they're bigger than ever
Sugar is their biggest hit yet
Yeah they're bigger but their fanbase is mostly young girls who remind ppl to drink a lot of water on Instagram captions
Not true
Kanye & drake were the biggest artists for a long time and they were challenging and different
Ye fell off and Drake became generic
Their influences were as readily legible. Treating them as the great men of history is ahistorical.
True.
Not saying Lil Nas X will end up like him, but I remember when Panda blew up and everyone gassed Desiigner like he overtook Future.
Now years later, Future is stronger than ever and Desiigner is cold af.
The biggest red flag is he blew up to his heights off an EP Single. He pretty much can't be more successful of a charting artist as he already is, so that might bleed into people's perceptions of his chart success if he doesn't continue to meet OTR standards.
He recently hit the studio with the Neptunes so maybe Pharrell and Chad will give him another hit and extend his 15 mins
Yeah they're bigger but their fanbase is mostly young girls who remind ppl to drink a lot of water on Instagram captions
they got more spotify monthly listeners than frank and tyler
Facts
There's too much paying homage to the idols and things from the past people need to look forward like Kanye did in the 00s
it’s so easy to say look forward but what does that even mean
Most rappers just love staying complacent
Most rappers don't expand their music tastes and they don't have a lot of time to listen to different genres of music or discover different artists
Let's take Lil Wayne for example, this man doesn't listen to anybody but himself and it shows
Let's take a new artist like Roddy Ricch for example, his favorite rappers are Young Thug and Future and that's why his music sounds so much like those 2 guys
Most artists are inspired by what they hear the most because that's the s*** that they think is acceptable so they try not to go beyond that
Another example would be someone like Kendrick, this man listens to every genre of music from Jazz to Funk to Rock to Poetry and it shows in his music because the music he makes is inspired by a lot of different things
Tyler is influenced by Pharrell the most but he also listens to a lot of different types of genres and it shows in his music, Tyler understands music on a different level
Drake was making his best music when he was inspired by artists like Kanye and The Weeknd but now he's just inspired by boring soundcloud rappers
I can give 100 other examples but you get the point
Basically most rappers are inspired by what's popping the most which are artists like Future and Thug and those who are inspired by actual good artists don't get the same push because there's not many spots for those type of artists
Keep Wayne out your mouth
He recently hit the studio with the Neptunes so maybe Pharrell and Chad will give him another hit and extend his 15 mins
I can't hate on this guy he's making smart moves
