It’s a good comic book movie but

MCU online reception has been becoming increasingly more insufferable post Endgame and it’s probably going to get worse after this

Niggas really let the payoff of decade long film series shroud every aspect of judgement while ignoring any of the missteps that lead up to Endgame.

I’d much rather have a run of the mill villain (literally the driving force of a comic book character) than have a film spit on the face of an actual menacing bad guy like Love and Thunder

Movie was actually pretty good . Niggas trippin

People have been b****ing online and wanting the MCU to die since I was a kid I’ve been seeing the same complaints for years it’s nothing new

The Marvels is a zippy, lighthearted MCU romp that is able to elevate the lead characters and keep you entertained. But it also feels like the third film in a Captain Marvel trilogy, but there hasn’t been a second. Even so, Carol feels much more rounded out as a character. Iman Vellani steals every scene she’s in and injects the energy into this movie. Nia DaCosta’s directing was solid, Brie Larson and Teyonnah Paris were great, and the chemistry between our heroes was very good.

While this feels like Captain Marvel 3, it also feels like Ms. Marvel Season 2. The movie is at its best when it’s like this.

Now that’s not to say this movie doesn’t have any issues, it has its fair share. Firstly, the editing was off. Certain scenes didn’t have the time to breathe, especially the emotional ones. This could’ve used another 15 minutes and it would’ve felt better. Also, Dar Benn was severely underdeveloped. It just felt like she was there, and then she’s gone. Nick Fury has been relegated to a comedic character, which you would expect is a welcome change after Secret Invasion, but it just doesn’t really work that well. Also this movie acts like Secret Invasion never happened which is kind of funny. I wasn’t a fan of a certain setting in this movie and it also felt more like an episode of a MCU TV show if that makes sense. Whereas, even though I like this one more, the first Captain Marvel really felt like a movie.

All in all The Marvels is a good time, but it could have been better. I’m hoping someday we get the Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel adventure we truly deserve that really fires on all cylinders.

P.S. The mid credit scene fired me up in the best way possible.
