3rdCoastYes of course that’s true. But Wonder Woman didn’t have any end game hype? Also ant man was released between infinity war and end game but it did about half of what captain marvel did.
Like I said earlier, I wasn’t agreeing with the “anti-women” sentiment from the other poster, so you shouldn’t be asking me about WW.
As for why Ant-Man 2 didn’t do as well as CM, Infinity War literally teased CM in the post-credits, and also CM released like 1.5 months before Endgame; that’s when the hype was at an all-time high.

BlueDreamThey have no more room for failure now. They have no choice but to get their s*** together and go all out on Deadpool 3, Cap 4, Blade, and F4.
Those movies are all big hitters and Marvel can’t afford to pull any punches in them, no more wasting time…it’s time to set up for the Avengers moviesi dont really care about the MCU at all now, but im still holding out hope for F4. this will be the movie that either pulls me in or repels me from watching another MCU movie that isn't Spider-Man lol
Nov 12, 20233rdCoastI think this is an over simplification. What would the reason for Wonder Woman and captain marvel doing so well be if it’s just like you’re saying? The issue is the over saturation of marvel content and bad stories. You can see a declining trend for the movies after they started with Disney +.
Don’t forget that unless you have Disney + and have seen WV and MM this is the first time ever you’ll be exposed for Monica and Kamala. IMO MM sucked and is the only thing marvel has put out I legit couldn’t continue watching.
But again. I think the main issue is over saturation. That and also that the last couple of movies just haven’t been that good and up to par with what viewers expects from marvel.
You make a great point.
I can’t speak for WW as I never saw it, but CM did well because of the Endgame tie in. Not to mention it was a good lighthearted semi-origin story film for her as a main character.
The issue this film faces without seeing it is that it’s essentially a buddy comedy with no ‘main’ star, just seems like a jumble of CM, MM and Rambeau altogether, contending for a main role.
Like I say though I haven’t yet seen it but I have a soft spot for the first.
But stemming from my main point - just seems like the film was put into production and then abandoned by Marvel without any proper promotion or care for the franchise even though CM is one of the best characters across the MCU
Nov 12, 2023Without seeing Ms. Marvel and knowing the gist of Kamala she was a great addition & having Fury is always a bonus
Like Captain Marvel the villain was meh and that singing planet was about to be the goats on Thor 4 levels of annoying. Actually the humor itself was hit or miss throughout. But theres better action set pieces and then benefit of a shorter run time. I did had .. dare I say.. fun?

Marvel is at where it’s at . It’s okay to accept . Besides spider man x men and crossovers I think people are good . Worst part is x men has the most potential to say something truly distinct in our society . Be similar to heroes or a less edgy the boys yet they invest in everything else . Trans , lgbt , women and all types of people are represented in x men
Galactus right there . Sentinels . Singer whole arc could be topped by less focus on the gruff white man and more on all the other characters
