The massacre has aged incredibly well.
It just had to follow up an all time album so it never had a chance
What‘s the problem with Candy Shop?
It's an okay song but not the best representation of 50 as an artist. Magic Stick had a similar theme but had more of a classic feel to it.
Also, it was the song that was commonly used to discredit the Massacre and claim that he was copying Ja Rule.
Game literally used the song as fodder during the beef.
"Get Rich or Die Tryin, we thought you was hot. Now the same nigga wanna take us to the Candy Shop."

The bad affect

Plus, the beef warped people's perception of the album.
Jadakiss called it a weedplate and Game s***ted on it too.
50 was riling niggas up with Piggy Bank and the Game beef and they were using the singles as a way to convince people that it was a "bad" album.
idk
Back Down >>>>> Piggy Bank
Patiently Waiting >>>>> Gatman & Robbin
In Da Club >>>> Disco Inferno
that being said The Massacre definitely grew on me more over the years but I do remember being quite disappointed initially when it dropped...however some of 50's best songs are also on there (Ski Mask Way, Baltimore Love Thing, Position of Power, I'm Supposed to Die Tonight)
Let’s talk about it Baltimore love thing> any track on grodt
hearing him perform this in baltimore on the final lap tour
never knew people slandered the massacre, i thought it was looked at as a classic by most

nah Massacre had me thinking Ja had a chance to make a comeback esp with that New York joint he had Jada and Joe on
Idk about it being on par to GRODT as an album but GRODT 50 and Massacre 50 were operating at the same level skill wise
GRODT soundtrack is also great
a mixed bag IMO but some very good tracks on there fr

Facts 50 was most hated back in 05 even in Ny mostly jealousy tho i remember listening to hot 97 that year 50 was on flex show when he left some random rappers was on kay slay show an hour later saying “see that nigga 50 ran out the station when he saw us” i was like who the f*** is this? Lmao
Even s*** like this was crazy
a mixed bag IMO but some very good tracks on there fr
It’s been a minute since I’ve listened so I could be letting nostalgia get in the way. I do remember the standouts clearly tho
Terrible take
Massacre sounds better now after seeing the mid 50 came with after it but it was bloated af with tons of filler and insanely cringe singles
Grodt is timeless amd effortlessly cohesive with maybe 1 skip if that

I definitely bought the cd back then lol I remember being hype to see what "Murda Mase" would do with G-Unit after that corny Welcome Back s*** and it just never materialized...kinda like Nas with Murda Inc
I always said 50 should’ve been selfish and kept all those tracks for himself and focus on his own legacy like the other legends would’ve made more classic albums
Terrible take

where I'm at with it lol tbf maybe people wanted another GRODT and 50 went another direction with a lot of the production and concept choices that's kind of how I remember it but even taking that out of consideration there's just some lame s*** on there and it's pretty uneven...also started the talk about 50 "becoming what he was dissing" on GRODT i.e. more mainstream/pop influenced
never knew people slandered the massacre, i thought it was looked at as a classic by most
When it just came out pretty much everyone was s***ting on it, it was the cool thing to do on rap forums cuz by then 50 was so big for so long ppl were ready to s*** on him and massacre rollout was an alleyoop
