as someone who comes to metal from a familiarity with mainly hip-hop/electronic

i tend to prefer slower metal with more “bass” and depth in it

it might be a nitpick but the faster stuff with a lot of high-end kinda overwhelms my ears with all the instruments playing and not harmonizing and it sounds grating

i enjoy the syncretism of the elements between the darker metal and 90s underground rap stuff

a lot of the heavy metal coming out of the south in the 80s and 90s is cool to me
