I got into The National a bit after Trouble Will Find Me so I don't have that emotional connection to their earlier work so my personal favourites are:

and still have to find a week in my life to simply go 24/7 with Alligator and Sad Songs to see where I'd rank them

but thinking about it there are no bad albums
I just have more feelings attached to some of them

I am.I like the directions they went in with SWB & IAETF too. I come back to those albums often but I slightly prefer their other material. Love all the albums except self titled, which I don't really for. One of the best active bands for me, just so damn consistent and great. And hope you have that week soon, 2 gems of albums.

So weird they dnt get as much love

Like dnt get me wrong theyve won grammies and s*** and are one of the more popular bands iut there but i see them as the American rodeohead and you rarely see them in convos when bands like white stripes, strokes etc come up

Imo they’re are solidly in tht S tier and tbh their catalogue is much stronger imo
