Smooth bass line with some nice 4 on the floor drums
When Lizzo catches the Valee flow in the second verse
She's got another hit yall sorry bout that
Tbh, y'all gonna hate me for saying this......
But a lot of pop stars who do this sound try to recreate the songwriting magic that Pharrell had when he made G I R L.
nice beat
cool bassline
it's bad b**** o'clock it's thick thirty
lmao this s*** is nowhere near Calvin's level. Love him or hate him, as a songwriter not many people can touch his run in the 2000s/2010s
tbh idk how to feel about him doing back to pop anyway, I kinda like the stuff he'd been doing underr the 'Love Regenerator' alias. That Love Rollercoaster flip and the one he did with Steve Lacy were both decent

That's a bar, but you haven't had a real woman in your life yet so you don't get it.

yeah I feel like for some reason the Get Lucky/Blurred Lines/Happy/Come Get It run he had is still a reference for people. I don't really get it because for me the Neptunes/NERD/Kelis/Clipse/NORE/Mystikal stuff he was doing in the 2000s stands up way better outside of Get Lucky
But Just a Cloud Away becoming a hit for the first time this year does make it seem like artists could still have success with that sound
Maybe part of it is that Pharrell run and things like Uptown Funk or Taylor's 1989 feel like the last time we had big pop moments that felt old school so Lizzo or whoever want to recreate that

I feel like each decade, we always have a loop of the same thing that's been done before, so I wouldn't be surprised if the "true" Neptunes sound comes back in a pop fashion. I know I'll be there to make it happen.
still on her look at me im fat s***
Being fat is a lot of celeb's whole brand, they cant change or they will lose millions

I've heard Pharrell talk about how he thinks there's a space that comes up in mainstream music for his sound every now and then but it's not always there.
If they could make it sound organic I'd love to hear it. I think Stir Fry was the perfect cross between classic Neptunes and more current sounds.
you can imagine someone else coming along and doing an update on that type of production though. with Neptunes it's a weird one because they are influential but at the same time they're way harder to copy than other influential producers because to copy them a producer has to understand current electronic/pop/hip-hop production and classic songwriting at the same time. you can't really get that sound if you're just going through loops
