If you appreciate films and filmmaking you got to appreciate the effort it took to pull those marvel movies off as well as they did. I like both the mcu and some Cameron films but I'm not acting like any of them are groundbreaking. He just put out Dark Fate in 2019 and that was God awful. He changed films with Terminator 2 but that's about it.

I call it smurfs in space but that works too what's so special about it to you? I usually focus on story more than acting or special effects so there wasn't anything there for me

its worldbuilding, visuals, and storytelling are all different

I don't think you actually focus on story. You just focus on plot. Because Avatar's A to B plot is similar to Smurfs or Pocahontas or whatever you will discredit everything and thats a lazy ass way of looking at a film

conceptually, Avatar is unique in so many ways and differs greatly from those other works.

but yes they’re generic films that haven’t done a thing to advance cinema.

after True Lies, Cameron just started focusing entirely on perfecting cgi, 3D technology and his love of world building. Yes, the stories aren’t well thought out but he’s still trying to give the audience something they’ve never seen before with every film.

So yes Avatar and Titanic > 98% of the MCU

Cameron films are the big revolutionary event films Marvel so desperately wanted to make with the Avenger series.
