hot pancakesnot really, but also yes lol
they like to be left alone and can take care of themselves, but you also have to clean their cage, wheel, give them a bath, and clip their nails frequently
they can also be quite temperamental.
for example, we have always had her cage in one spot in our apartment. last christmas we tried to move her cage so we can put the tree there and she started to hibernate (very bad for domestic hedgehogs to do), and basically went on a hunger strike. once we moved her cage back to where it originally was, she went back to normal

RIP Harriet 🕊️You were such a special little pet. I’ll never forget you. Thanks for being weird and always making me laugh with your funny hedgehog quirks. You were a grumpy soul, but that’s just in your nature. And it made you all the more special ❤️

Basically, when they smell a new scent they enjoy, they start to bite/lick at the source of it, then foam at the mouth and lick themselves getting the foam all over them
No ones sure why they do it. Some think it’s because they enjoy the scent and want to smell like it, others think that it’s a defense mechanism, used to mask their scent from potential predators.
Either way, it’s pretty cute

Potty training?
Where did you get her?
apparently you can potty train them but it’s not required since they do live in a cage and just go on their wheel most of the time. it’s better to do it when you first get them, so I missed that opportunity unfortunately
I got her at an exotic pet shop, they only had like 2 left so I went for it lol

she eats these protein pellets the place I bought her from sells, but as a snack she eats mealworms
she also will sometimes eat a tiny bit of egg, but she prefers her protein pellets lol
some people get their hedgehogs to eat fruit but mine doesn’t seem to like it

not really, only if she spoke up in your hand as opposed to picking her up already like that
I accidentally sat on her once because I had her on the couch and she went under the blanket
