no s*** lmao wait do people think this s*** is real?
lol i was going to ask if it was
Lemme know what you think after
I thought it was fine.
There were some elements of the presentation that I thought were effective and some elements that felt less motivated / took me out. The standard found footage s*** in first half doesn’t really strengthen the last half of insanity, so it sort of just feels like you’re waiting for the shoe to drop with little investment.
I think the coolest thing in this movie is the alien snakes. The practical effects for those were awesome. The 🔦 in the dark was also effective sometimes, but I didn’t really gel with the dream logic of the film. For one thing, it always felt like someone just dropped a bucket of fake blood on the characters, and the tension felt sort of impossible to get a gauge on. The world building just didn’t feel as genuine to me as, say, a Skinamarink.
Even with the sound work, sometimes it would carry the film and then other times someone would swing an axe and the *squelch* feels like a stock sound effect.
Overall, I think it’s a decent addition to the found footage genre. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it serves up some cool lovecraftian hellscapes.

Fair enough, like I said this movie seems to be different for every viewer. I watched the companion short films and they definitely tell you more about what’s happening. Like in one of them, there’s a shot of Robbie staring at himself in the mirror, and suddenly the booming sound happens and his nose bleeds while he looks spaced out. And we get to hear more from whatever the f*** the entity is that’s tormenting them (the same one that says “show them” at the end of the movie)
What’s your interpretation of what happened in the movie?
