Reddit exhaust tf outta me with product searching tho. Like stop arguing about how I should craft my own shower head filter and just give me a Amazon link already
Reddit is useful for some things but regularly using it for entertainment will rot your brain.
Has one of the, if not THE, worst big communities on the internet

Geography or other science subs ?
Geography or other science subs ?
Why in the world would I get my geography information from reddit
I hate how conversation happens & is formatted there
fr half of them dont know how to just let a joke be a joke without tacking it on 5 times and the other half just turns into endless movie quotes
its the unfunniest avenue of nerd humor
This is incorrect. The fact that Reddit has subcommunities supported by larger subreddits means that there is a natural support system for EXTREMELY niche interest groups that independent forums cannot supplant
Sure the issues of corporate centralization are present but Reddit is the only place where you can find extremely niche answers to extremely niche problems through shared niche interests on an interpersonal level
I’m going to have to push back on this now that ive had time to think
Do you think of yourself as a redditor in the same way you do ktt? As in do you have a personal attachment and actually go and interact in a subreddit like you do here?
Your comment in theory was how Reddit started, but it does not function that way now.
Somewhere around the mid 2010’s it became generalized to function in form and content much like other traditional sites like IG, Twitter, Facebook
Did you know that only about 1/10th of 2024 reddit users use the desktop website?
That is counting New Reddit and Newer Reddit users, by the way.
This is why you don't see "communities" forming anymore, custom CSS (which isn't supported in new reddit), infamous threads, broad site culture, or anything of the sort. It is an homogenized "app", and most users don't even check specific subreddits, they just follow their feed on the app. "Reddit" died a long time ago, in exactly the same way this place too if we are being honest.
The vast majority of reddit users weren't so a few years ago, to an absurd degree.
This is also why there is the unique phenomenon of the "self-hating redditor" - why is it that even on reddit, people complain of "redditors"? The answer is simple: They aren't redditors. It’s your average person like you see under IG comments or Facebook comments and even here. People who use forums/blogs/etc aren’t engaging with it primarily for the sake of building community and long form discussion, it’s for short form dopamine boost, surface level engagement.
So next time you find a reddit comment annoying,it's not some autistic atheist fedora guy or whatever image of reddit you have conjured up, 9/10 it's some just a generic social media user
Reddit is such a joke nowadays, they won't stop recommending their s***ty large subs even though I've unsubscribed from them all
It's not even useful for reviews of products/services etc anymore as it's been hijacked by companies peddling fake reviews everywhere that get heavily upvoted
and don't even get me started on the political echo chamber that's formed there
