If anyone else dropped an album that spent numerous weeks at #1, had multiple hit singles, a song that was #1 for 13 straight weeks, amassed 4B streams in one year, headlined the Super Bowl, and set forth a global stadium tour I’d call that the biggest rap album of the decade as well

i choose to believe that kendrick lost so much aura instantaneously with those carti features that it prematurely ended the GNX era and his brief run as the #1 guy. it's not the actual answer but it's the one i'm going with.
