we can all agree on this right?

what else gets mentioned, quoted and referenced til this day as much as they do? not even animation wise but on like daily life type s***, also counting the infinity of memes they gave us which are all funny, let's talk about these sorry ass cartoons man

  • Aug 28, 2024

I always find it interesting how coincidental (or maybe not tbh) both the Simpsons and SpongeBob are infinitely memeable when they predate that type of comedy

Of American animation? Yeah. I'm sure there might be bigger that I can't really think of, but they're definitely iconic.

  • Flintstones and Scooby-Doo gotta be up there I'm sure

    No, they’re just memes.

Simpsons is on the top tier. But Bugs Bunny/Loony Tunes, Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Charlie Brown, Mickey Mouse, Pokémon and Winnie the Pooh easily clear SpongeBob and Shrek.

Your argument is that SpongeBob had three solid seasons more than 20 years ago?

Won’t tolerate Mickey disrespect. The most recognizable animated character in history. Aura is unmatched.

  • OP’s next thread: Jay-Z, Wale and French Montana are the big three of rap

Those three seasons aren’t just solid, they’re classics which can uncannily be quoted in any situation. The way I think of it is that the value is determined by what we couldn’t afford to lose. If we have to delete a show out of existence, it can’t be SpongeBob.

Mickey is recognized because he’s the face of Disney. Outside of being a mascot, nobody’s checking on him. That’s not aura, that’s positioning.

    I’ve got Simpsons, SpongeBob…

    And South Park.

Shrek is a movie. Feels out of place here.
*Sidebar: I don’t understand why everyone seems to think Shrek 2 is better than the original.
