Respectable answers. Simpsons for SURE it’s not only the most influential cartoon of the last 30-40 years, it’s the longest running sitcom of all time.
SpongeBob I get because it was one of the best kids shows for this generation, but also like the Simpsons it translates so well into the social media era, which is definitely influential on new shows and shows for the future.

For third place, I understand Shrek for the memes and everything, also for changing the disney formula from the stereotypes. Having a fat and ugly main character, the princess is the same, they’re gross, it’s a raunchy sometimes. That was very influential at the time and the reason why Shrek was created, to basically middle finger Disney and say you don’t need classic protagonists to make a successful movie. but it’s not even a TV show. Once you’re throwing in movies it gets more complicated. I also think there are way better movie options. (On the none classic protagonist thing, Ghibli was also massively influential in doing that and did it first)

Studio Ghibli movies are my favourite personally.
My personal fav big 3 are Simpsons, ghibli and avatar the last air bender.

But Influence would be Toy Story, since it was the first 3d animated film and went along to create one of the best trilogies in all of cinema history.
That movie’s influence on modern animation cannot be overstated. It changed how the film industry operated.

If the third place is a tv show, Idk. There is a huge gap between those 2 shows and a third in the modern era.
(My personal favs are avatar then adventure time.)
Pokemon is pretty influential and I think is the highest grossing series oat.

Boomer take, but Chuck Jones looney tunes. Is probably the most influential, ignoring early Disney stuff.

So ill go with for shows: Simpsons, spongebob, looney tunes.
If we include movies: Simpsons, spongebob, toy story.
I don’t know which is more influential, looney tunes or Toy Story tbh.
Toy Story for the modern era, even though looney tunes influenced most if not all of the modern cartoons.

If we are doing historically, I would say Old Disney, Looney Tunes, Simpsons
