I still haven’t watched The Night Of after reading how James G was gonna star in it id just be distracted wondering how he’d have done it
I will eventually though cause I’ve heard fantastic things about it and I love John Turturro
Turturro does a great job, def don't sleep on it.
Lookin at some photos for many saints, I was thinking “damn they knocked it out the park with the casting of young Tony”
Then I realized it’s his actual son

That movie has such a weird mix of casting
Tony, Junior, Livia, Joey Diaz as P****s father all great casting
And just a complete misfire when it came to Silvio & Paulie
I’m 50/50 on Johnny Boy cause I prefer his portrayal in the show but I love Jon Bernthal

What’s your take on the movie as a whole? I only saw it once, on release day, but tbh I need to re watch it I totally forgot most of it

I feel like after reading that originally David Chase wanted to make a film about the Newark riots that had slight ties to Sopranos but the studio only wanted a Sopranos film helps make the final product make more sense. It’s an incredibly disjointed film, and the studio deciding to lean into young Tony heavy through marketing when he’s only a supporting character built up fans expectations, myself included. It’s far from a terrible film, but the mediocrity only shines more when its basis is one of the best TV shows of all time.
A lot of people agree it would’ve been better conceived as a miniseries, but Chase only had interest in making a feature film so thus its chocked full of ideas that never really get time to develop
@WaltDisneyOG its also chocked full of sopranos show references that are meaningless to the overall plot. It’s trying to appeal to fans while also telling a story that doesn’t hold any connection to what fans loved about the show. As Tony said
“Remember when is the lowest form of conversation”
Rewatching the series while I eat. I’m on season 6 this season is so good because it’s less about the business and more about the personal interactions between everyone that you never got to see before and I feel like that’s the demise of the crew.
Had to rewatch Pine Barrens episode cause it's one of my fav.
