i feel, if we're gonna live in capitalism, why not twist and turn it into the best thing it can be, for the people, not just for the exclusive wealthy club at the top
for real though OP i dont think this is the best hill to die on.
the stock market is a symptom/instrument of a certain overarching system, eliminating it on its own would just cause dysfunction and crisis that would affect the ordinary people caught up in its machinations.
best thing to do is to just get rid of that system
you cannot be serious?

This has been a huge and real trend in investing the last 10+ years
Pension funds/countries/companies are moving in the right direction in their allocation of capital
They are punished when the stock prices go down? When it is exposed that companies do illegal s***?
Look at a company like Apple (AAPL). Most valuable company in the world. Committed to 100% renewable energy. That's a big difference than even 20 years ago

And if you'd like to discuss China, that's a completely different subject. I am no fan of China myself
Ethical investment been a thing for years lets see how this works out. I am more pessimistic about it than you are
you seem genuine
the stock market expresses economic change, it seldom causes it
even without it, outcome would be the same lol
It's the response to a market collapsing that I don't agree with. If a company fails, so be it. Bail out the workers and nationalize the industry.

it needs change but full communism will fail
my idea: social democracy with universal basic income

how about provide the workers with enough money to live and find new employmen without stress?
If we nationalise the company we foster inefficiency
Stock market goes up and nothing changes for the average person.
Stock market goes down and thousands lose their jobs.
Yeah I agree thats some BULLSHIT
i think average people forget how good they really have it if we compare ourselves to these smaller 2nd/3rd world countries
most of the technological progress of the next 50 years will be those countries catching up to the developed western economies
when the stock market is "going up" it's like a plane that it is flying. it is going according to plan and it would be weird if it wasn't working properly
I consider this a failure of education, im not even close to the top 10% and i have some options
We should teach the kids financial literacy
Nah I completely agree man. S*** should be taught in every high school in America at least the basics and fundamentals. You got dudes on ktt calling the market evil

by the books capitalism should be letting these corporations fail anyway
socialism right now is only for the wealthy in this country, not the regular people
how about provide the workers with enough money to live and find new employmen without stress?

I don't see how that fosters inefficiency. Things that went from national to private (see british railways) become absolute dogass and much more expensive.

that isn't capitalism
it's corporate socialism
or crony capitalism
that said TARP bailout money from 2009 was fully repaid by those that took it

No, it's capitalism.
Like just say capitalism lol
competition isnt an intrinsic good .. have you heard of natural monopolies?
yes lol but not all monopolies are natural
we should nationalise natural monopolies but break up not natural ones
just had a hunch.
Yes me a very clear communist is going to want to preserve the stock market of all things
