theDonandOnlyhe's a great writer. i almost feel like his personality won't let him rap to his full potential. like he has the heart of early ye, but part of what of made ye ye, was his willingness to be a douche at the same time as praising god, family and talking about heavier stuff. Most rappers have got to have a little a****** in their personality or it doesn't work. Like idk if chance will even get as edgy as Common
he'd probably get some bars off if he was ghostwriting for someone who can deliver that fuller personality. or maybe he just doesn't have it in him past those first couple projects. his best work is pretty concept driven and focused like ye's best stuff, maybe he ran out of angles he could really focus in onit’s like you said eariler, his main influence really isnt ye but rather ye’s first two albums
the lack of direction could be why he started trend hopping so much
