SoundsNot the entire project as a whole but certain songs did & remeber this was Cudi’s response to SBTH. He even said he was gonna make what nobody else but him could make.
i feel like that was the intent but in the end it really sounded like he was trying to get his rythm back and remember how to approach non rock instrumentals again. Like a transition to get to KSG and MOTM3

The “MOTM” sound was when he was 26/27 this is 10 years later can’t box it in like that & not let it evolve
It didn’t evolve come on man. Gone are the lush production playgrounds Cudi played in on MOTM 1 & 2. The production has gotten more simple, but PPDS & MOTM3 are both great so I’m not hating. But let’s not act like this production is an evolved sound of the amazing production Pat & Emile did on the first 2

100% you’re right. It’s a bit of everything tbh it has the MOTM undertones. Great album nonetheless.

Where he said he used to love the big cinematic sound cause that’s what Ye & Pharrell did but then said he didn’t wanna do that cause it was too mainstream.. but I don’t see anything mainstream about cinematic string sounding s*** lol

I will say Daytrip having a huge hand in this s*** is kinda eh lol & it’s strange Dot chose this direction & strayed from the sound he gave to the OG days

I’m saying that’s literally my only complaint on this whole album. The production is honestly fine but man strings would’ve took it to another level
