yes, the world doesn't revolve around america. dont come at me with that ivory tower bs cmon. denying that this website is dominated by american music, movies, and experiences is silly. that doesn't invalidate other cultures, it's just a fact

"shut up and dribble" was enough to tell you that the post was mostly if not only about white americans anyway, so such a distinction is unnecessary

I'm not coming from a higher stance, I know most topics discussed here are about america but I don't think most people are from america nore should the rest of the world be ignored because of that

and even if it's the case he is again putting all white americans in the same category when that doesn't have to be the case

They're similar too white sports fans. They don't care about black people outside of entertainment purposes. That's why we they see black rappers,or athletes speaking out on matters that don't concern entertainment they'll tell them "shut up and dribble" or "why are you complaining your a millionaire " it doesn't matter if these white people conservative or liberal. They have the same white supremacist mindset. White rap fans are always attacked to the dysfunction of Hip Hop culture. It's trauma p*** it's the same reason why people love slave movies. They love the d*** selling the gang violence the d*** usage the single parent households. The promotion of financial irresponsibility.

Man OP, you speaking facts. F*** what these white people say.

The same people that say "shut up and dribble", if an athlete were to turn around and say "shut and spectate" what would be their response?

People that say "keep politics out" are only using it as a guise to hide their true beliefs. When Brees intially said that you should stand for the anthem, what was their response? "Shut up and throw"? Nah it was them laughing and pointing out hypocrisy and how Brees should be able to say what he feels too. It's like, no nigga, keep that same "shut up and dribble" energy. Say that s*** regardless of which side someone's statement lies.

Unlike you guys, we embrace politics in sports and music, and other forms of entertainment. Let's see where people's true beliefs and morals lie. If we come at a person like what Brees initially said, it's because we disagree and are expressing it, not because we want to silence him. If you gonna tell LeBron to shut up and dribble then you better say the same s*** to another athlete with the opposite view, f*** outta here.

most people in Europe were enslaved to, in fact some ethnic groups in europe were enslaved more in western society then black people have and thus can empathize with them

do you think there isn't any correlation between the word Slav and slave

    but yes f*** racism

what exactly are you trying to say here? black people have been “free” for almost half the amount of years they were enslaved and kept separate by law until about 50 years ago. racism is deeply ingrained in white american culture and you can’t really understand as a european and especially not by saying “chill people in my ethnic group were enslaved once too”

you made it sound like i'm trying to down african-american slavery

My point is there are some people who went thru similar things and can have compassion for each other

I do not think I know what it feels to be black in america

i mean that’s the thing, you are downplaying it by comparing it to other types of slavery because you’re saying “white europeans were enslaved so they understand the experience don’t generalize them with white americans” there’s a huge disconnect and that comparison can’t be made. i’m all for the compassion but you don’t have to act like you went through the same s*** to be nice to people

Racism and systemic racism discussions should have a whole lot more nuance than they do these days. This year made everything 100% black or white and I think that’s hurting the conversation.

Most people aren’t bad, so try and attack the specific behaviors that are harmful instead of the entire person. It will make them more receptive, and will make it easier for both sides to come to a reasonable solution.

Wrong it is black and white. You either believe that racism is 100 wrong and that black lives matter or you’re racist. Pretty simple. The problem thinking nuance exist about hundreds of years. Don’t that insert nuance is probably a ...... wait for it ... a racist

as a white man, the reasons stated in @op are not the reasons why I like hip hop and r&b

I grew up listening to artists like Prince, MJ and Miles Davis

These influences served as a natural progression for me to get into hip hop and r&b; I admittedly only learned about the history of hip hop as I grew up and did some research on the genre's past

I'm not gonna around and act like a self-hating white man pretending to be black in order to get imaginary brownie points on the internet, that's for the birds

but that is what I said, let me try again

I think all slavery is equaly bad and I do not know what the black experience in America feels like

I don't think you read everything I wrote in the thread but that's ok

so let me just give a example to what I was trying to say. I wouldn't want to say "black people are racist" if I was refering to blacks in America because blacks don't only live in America, so I would say black americans or african-americans and I also know that not all black americans are racist so in conclusion I would say "some black americans are racist". I really do not know why this is such a hard concept to understand.

    What did he say lol

Something like if you listen to hip hop and you’re white you need to die. Or should die. Something along those lines tho.

  • Jul 9, 2020

Real s***. Ever since I was little white people would Ask what music I like and I say rap and they always gave me a look.
The media loves to use rap to get attention too. How many songs from over childhood where rap influenced in cartoons? But they always dismissed it as “not music”
So many people don’t even bother listening to rap and claim it’s trash about d**** and hoes but yet worship Hamilton for whatever reason

first of all not all slavery was equally bad in any way.
but with the generalizations thing it’s just a little bit nuanced. he’s clearly talking about a certain set of people who definitely exist. nowhere does he say “every single white person on the planet is like this“ but every person like this is white. you came in the thread, realized it didn’t apply to you, and still felt personally offended enough to post about it.
if it doesn’t apply to you then good! no need to tell everyone about it cause that’s not at all the point of the thread

Yes not all slavery was equally bad I correct myself I agree

and i'm not disagreeing with what he said in the post or denying the fact that those people exist

but your are assuming that I am personally offended because of my reaction when all I'm trying to do is help because the more you generalize and stereotype certain groups you are only opening more doors for ignorance and racism

    the 9 definitive types of white fans (pick your fighter);

-the type OP is talking about where they love trap and s*** but are basically racist otherwise (mainly listens to whatever is mainstream, artists like Migos, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi, etc.)

-ultra-woke hipsters who lowkey feel blacks need paternal guidance and hide behind "woke" views to say that - alternatively, Art Hoes/Male Art Hoes (listens to underground art-core/fantano core: milo, brockhampton, jpegmafia, open mike eagle, tyler the creator)

-"i'm not racist but I only listen to white rappers" (listens to eminem, g-eazy, post malone, MGK)

-the "white guy is weirdly defensive about liking hip hop and also has weird political views, thinking about converting to Islam" (listens to 2Pac, Biggie, Vinnie Paz/JMT, Wu-Tang, RA The Rugged Man)

-the guy who obsessively uses /mu/ and RYM and brags to people about liking obscure and artful music they couldn't understand (listens to Death Grips, kendrick lamar, kanye, danny brown)

-the weird kid who's actually a lowkey neonazi and likes extremely offensive memes "ironically" (listens to Yung Lean, Bladee/Drain Gang, Lil Peep, Playboi Carti)

-the internet junkie (listens to Lil Ugly Mane, madvillian, cannibal ox, eclectric mix of post-2010s internet core and pre-2010s underground)

-the boomer (exclusively listens to underground 90s-early 00s hip hop, def jux, and rhymesayers artists)

-reddit (listens to RTJ, only things that are acclaimed on r/hhh as not to lose clout)

    am i missing anyone
