If I remember correctly, he was bringing up the fact of the subject matter nowadays and even though I can see that as a valid point, you can still listen to classics
If the new school isn’t your cup of tea.

Yup I found the thread I posted it. But yeah you’re 100% right, most of the current state of hip hop isn’t my cup of tea but I’m still here. I don’t think you can “outgrow” any genre of music you like tbh, they just come in phases

Like all those Ariana, Billie Eilish, Lorde, etc stans are almost undeniably worse than anything Hip Hop sees and they're all white and their fans are teenage white girls

They'll call people the f word, tell them to kill themselves, doxx etc
Alot of people complain that there aren't enough opportunities for non-white pop stars, well the audience is to blame for that. Executives would push whomever could get them profit, teenage pop fans have a history of fetishizing black/brown/gays/etc whilst being extremely toxic towards them.

Who was it on this site saying “when do you grow out of the hip hop phase?” F***ing idiot

Fr making it seem like Hip Hop is some childish thing or just a phase when it’s literally a whole culture

  • White rap fan here. My family's racist but I don't have that mindset. I treat everyone as equally as possible. I know a lot of the lyrics and stories and themes in the songs don't apply to people like me and I don't embrace that stuff. I listen for the vibes, the flow, the beat, etc.

this is why there is literally zero call outs in mainstream culture about the fact that ariana, a white european descendant, can use make up to darken her skin and "coincidentally" revamp her entire persona, style and music to be more hip hop/ r&b oriented

the funny thing too is these same stans will be the ones to go hard at outspoken rappers like kanye or "incoherent" rappers like future or thug and talk s*** about their misogynistic bars like the white artists they stan aren't blatantly ripping those artists off to stay relevant.

And where do people who want to voice their concerns/observations about race in music go then? you could've ignored this thread instead you are embodying it.

Even if the thread has nothing to do with race people make something to take this path, it's getting boring

In general this really just proves the inner racism of music fans. Someone like Eminem can freely say the word "f.a.g" in his music, even in 2020, but twitter users, same type of racists to say "i dont like hip hop but eminem is cool", will call Kanye homophobic when Kanye has never used that word in his songs and literally called out homophobia in hip hop in the early 2000s.

These same type of people talk about racist police, yet they exhibit the exact same kind of behavior.

Nah man, eminem performed with Elton John who he is friends with- he's definitely not a homophobe even though he caters to that mentality whenever he uses those words.
You just don't get it bro

Em definitely faced big backlash, apologized and censored it after he released that track

As much as i agree that this type of s*** is a problem, i dont find it fair to generalize and say all white rap fans are only fans of rap because of the “trauma p***” aspect. I never feel the need to respond or justify myself to this kind of stuff defensively because i feel like, if it doesnt apply to me why respond. But like some of us white folks just love the soulful sounds and production and storytelling and rhyming skills and are also capable of empathy

That's why we they see black rappers,or athletes speaking out on matters that don't concern entertainment they'll tell them "shut up and dribble" or "why are you complaining your a millionaire " it doesn't matter if these white people conservative or liberal. They have the same white supremacist mindset.

The white rap fans who actually say these type of things, sure, but what sense does it make to act like this is something that applies to all white rap fans.
