This race discussion is turning this forum into s***. I wish we could keep the subject on music only

I think it'll just take an effort to keep it from being stupid as hell,

Like everybody wanting to intentionally create problems between people on here cause they're angry i think is bad but

if u make the points well and say 1., 2. and 3.... "this is why _ is a problem because "

but just like music, sports, and all that, this forum is open 2 all types of people to join (when registration is open) you don't have to be smart to be on this forum so

Yeah OP there's no arguing with the fact there are so many white consumers of black art until it challenges their privilege and then it's immediately: "stick to the music" "stick to playing ball"

i know everybody has had to have seen this: its happened so many times even white folks ITT y'all have seen either sports players or black musicians speak up on an issue and then the comments are like "unfollowed" "stick to the music" "stick to playing __"

And where do people who want to voice their concerns/observations about race in music go then? you could've ignored this thread instead you are embodying it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way when I see whites get laughs for saying s*** like "Thug>>Beethoven lol xd" or "Lil Baby>>>MLK!!"

It's patronizing as f*** and frankly disgusting

    that being said

    Thug x Beethoven?

performative blackness is definitely an issue with white fans, unfortunately
im one of the exceptions to OP’s generalised perspective

If u use your fandom of sport or hip hop to say racist bullshit then you’re not a fan, but you don’t have to be politically or socially woke to enjoy any of them

Racism and systemic racism discussions should have a whole lot more nuance than they do these days. This year made everything 100% black or white and I think that’s hurting the conversation.

Most people aren’t bad, so try and attack the specific behaviors that are harmful instead of the entire person. It will make them more receptive, and will make it easier for both sides to come to a reasonable solution.

Yeah I mean how can u talk about something like a kendrick album while ignoring what he says about race or things of that nature,

any heavily socially conscious artist is going to have topics that go beyond "music only"

I think there's a disconnect in your argument due to the failure to account for the fact that most 'fans' are like this regardless of their race or the race of the people they are 'fans' of.

Generally speaking fans are very leach like and don't view the subjects they support as people and rather simply see them as their favorite puppets or cartoon characters in the show they like.

Because of these things I think simplifying it to a race thing is a little unfair seeing as the same situation holds true in instances that don't involve a white fan black artist dynamic.

Like all those Ariana, Billie Eilish, Lorde, etc stans are almost undeniably worse than anything Hip Hop sees and they're all white and their fans are teenage white girls

If I remember correctly, he was bringing up the fact of the subject matter nowadays and even though I can see that as a valid point, you can still listen to classics
