Tyler can rap Saran around Bino although his subject matter/lyrical content can be a lot weaker/less timeless than Bino
I have my own gripes with Bino & his approach though, I kinda want to dissect both of their approaches to music in long form at some point
Yea I agree. Are you a writer?
Man f*** Bryson Tiller
that struggle singing over trap&b instrumentals literally ruined the genre
RT @iamiguel R&B problem is simply a problem a lot of black genres have in the modern era, they are are influenced by rap.
And not that rap itself is a bad influence, I think the sing-rappers that are good are great at it.
It's just they're SOLELY influenced by rap (and nothing else)
All your favorite R&B/"alt" r&B albums of the last few decades just listen to what they was listening to (frank ocean listening to beach boys during blonde. D'Angelo studying funk masters sly and the family stone and others during voodoo.) and you can just tell the difference.
Or you can just hear it in the music (yo sidebar @NOTSAVEME I never got to apologize for how I came at you in your dijon thread, that was out of pocket and out of line and I took out a bad day on you). Like someone said listening to Dijon and hearing the influence of different singers from across multiple genres.
And it f***ing works. Dijon's album still one of the best albums of the decade
It does a lot for your art when you can channel more than just one thing and a lot of R&B acts are channeling the same thing tbh.
bra that whole era and aesthetic had niggas doing that pretty boy introspective s*** alà BROCKHAMPTON, Steve Lacy, hell even lesser known artists like Choker’s Peak albeit he definitely takes more influence from Frank Ocean more than anybody else, they cribbed his whole aesthetic from that era so much
that album was like the white yuppie entry point into alternative rap
Peak and saturation I both came out before flower boy lol
tyler really needs to go full startrak and put some people on
I feel like Tyler isn't an overflowing well of endless release-quality level ideas tbf
He's been around for 15 years and has been cool with everyone in the game atp, from Jay to Drake to Kanye to Kendrick to Rocky to Pharrell to etc etc & yet he only has a handful of notable major beat placements outside of his camp
that and Me and Your Mama are literally the highest caliber of perfect songs, up there with Dont Stop Till U Get Enough and Purple Rain
Speaking of, can you believe Off The Wall opens with Don't Stop til You Get Enough?... I can't think of any better album opener, it's crazy
this man's versatility crazy
Peak and saturation I both came out before flower boy lol
yeah they did lol
that doesn’t change what i said
Peak and saturation I both came out before flower boy lol
Brockhampton really deserves the alt rap influence that gets attributed to Flower Boy LET’S POD FR

Brockhampton influenced the grass roots movement of bedroom pop/alternative/rap but they wouldn’t exist without Tyler

Dj Harrison the GAWD bro saw Butcher Brown live at the Blue Note and them niggas was fire.

They’re good but they just make me want to listen to the originals
Part of it is that Donald isn’t half the vocalist his idols are, so he can write a really good song and not sell it as well.

de best MJ album too

this site got a real strange complex w Flower Boy but they love IGOR, i never understood it lol
In what sense?
Obviously Bino is a better singer but I don’t know who I’d say is the better rapper.
Bino is more versatile but idk they’re both pretty great. It’s hard for me to say, imma fan of both
They're kinda evenly matched
Tyler a slightly better rapper, Bino a better singer.
Tyler a better producer, Bino a more versatile artist
What it comes down for me is that I think Bino is just a better writer overall and just knows how to write about more serious topics in a more organic way. Like Tyler can't make a baby boy, flight of navigator, urn, the violence to me
this site got a real strange complex w Flower Boy but they love IGOR, i never understood it lol
new magic wand is tyler best song
this site got a real strange complex w Flower Boy but they love IGOR, i never understood it lol
Flower Boy is better than Igor largely because Tyler knew to let better singers do the singing for him.

Flower Boy saved Tyler’s career full stop
They’re good but they just make me want to listen to the originals

Im with you for a song like Baby Boy which is literally a 1:1 rip off of a Sly and family stone track but those two specifically are so so special. Also cannot disagree more with the vocals, both those tracks are so visceral, that strained singing on Me and Your Mama is executed perfectly

Whew, disagree
Igor > FB

! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Op is spitting. I love Tyler but it’s wild how much of a media/critic darling he’s become post flower boy, it doesn’t come off as genuine. I enjoy his last two albums for what it’s worth though
