at this point safe literally just a legitimate journalist. We should make a safe sxn or sticky every thread
Best threads on this site next to the accidental classic ones
Great thread Safe! One aspect for you to consider is to dive deeper into the payment segment. Something like how to spend your money wisely on promotion, what channels are worth it, paying for ads etc. If you need help let me know
As a person myself who has worked with labels and did digital marketing on socials for labels for years I think you killed it bro. Good thread.
Disagree
To be come a superstar maybe but if you make good enough music and promote yourself right then I think it’s very doable to get to a point of getting label meetings and the like at least
Yikes my guy, sorry to say but Luck has a huge factor in success. If you don’t get your s*** promoted to the right person. Then you are SOL

I get what you mean but if you get your music to a quality level it is absolutely achievable to get on playlists and to start getting attention
Is it possible to be an amazing musician and just never be discovered.
Like what if you were J Dilla level good as a producer but were terrible at promoting your music. (not saying that im as good as j dilla)
@safe lol now all you got to do is schedule these activities in a 24hr cycle. Much props man
@safe your best one yet. The amount of aspiring artists who frequent this site would probably be jaw-dropping if we knew the true amount; you providing a no-bs cheat sheet for them is beautiful
I feel it is only healthy to at least try and challenge an aspect of what you said, so right here -
“Have you ever noticed how rare it is to find artists who are unpopular and are making fantastic music?“
Do you feel this may just be more of an anecdotal experience? Some of the most talented artists and musicians end up never getting anywhere, and we obviously know the sounds that reach the top are oftentimes never the “best” per say.
I do agree that the music should be stellar, but look at all of the not-so-stellar music that we all seem to have heard.
I feel as though 90% of “making it” as an artist is how you market yourself/make connections, and the “making high quality music” part of it depends on more heavy-weighted topics such as integrity, values, and what you want out of life; topics that stand independent of being a successful artist in the monetary or celebratory sense
Is there a market for instrumentals? Not like lofi type s*** but like trap influenced music that rides more like a song than a beat, almost like electronic/hip hop fusion
I might put my music on Spotify etc. But I wanna know what the market is

Djbooth does some good articles consistently on the do’s and donts and etc on paid promotion

thats a good point
more so with that I mean its hard to be making music at a really high level of quality WHILE also promoting yourself well and not find success
that doesnt mean success in terms of millions of dollars and fame but just reasonable success some money, label meetings and deals etc
but all of that is contingent on marketing yourself like you say. you can make godly music and never be found unless you're marketing yourself and putting it out there

not sure tbh
there definitely is for electronic music but idk to what extent w fusion

if you were terrible at promoting your music yea absolutely
the chances of being randomly found on soundcloud are miniscule
you dont put your music out there people aren't gonna hear it no matter how good it is
Nah people making incredible music won’t be with 1k monthly listener.
If you making incredible music you will be at least Larry June/ slums/ grieslda/ lil tier
how exactly have you come to this conclusion?

Even Larry puts out a ton of music markets stays active on socials etc. He's doing a lot and he's just breaking thru
Idk what the exact correlation between good music and popularity is but it's definitely not one to one. It's a lotta leg work u gotta put in always
Even then it's probably not always gonna work out right? Like I know of artists who r rly good that aren't super popular I'm sure we all do

I mean thing like this are a combination lock where many variables and things have to be in place for you to break through.
Someone like jai Paul can just make music and have it work for him cuz his music is so good.
While some like Larry ( no disrespect to Larry but he’s music quality ain’t on a CRAZY lvl) you have to Accommodate with pushing your brand more.
