Jay-Z has willingly hopped on 3 of Drake's albums

He has over 20 records rapping alongside Lil Wayne

If you were outside when Nelly was hot, and in 09' you can EASILY tell the difference.

This is why the Ja Rule comparison falls flat too. They looked at Drake as like, the next best rapper who could also sing and do hooks.

Nelly at his peak was hot but he felt way more like an entertainer then most top rappers in history. Jay Wayne and even Drake have built movements around their music, people reading off their lyrics like Bible scriptures lol.

Its like Nelly was hot but he didn't have that full respect

It would still beat Shake Your Tailfeather. So I’m not sure what your point is?

  • Jul 12, 2022

F***in Problems is objectively one of the greatest rap collaborations ever…. Shake Your Tailfeather isn’t?….

Sure but wasn’t the point of this thread that both Nelly and Drake are focused on making pleasing music over critic bait lol.

Jay wasn't making critic bait,he's just an ill rapper lol. But Nelly knew his lane and thats what garnered him so much success.

Him and Luda both were big rappers who were treated more as pop acts than MCs

Even the LL comparisons fall flat because LL was never able to tap into the street side and collaborate with street rappers the way Drake did.

Jay wasn’t making critic bait but he also wasn’t necessarily chasing radio hits ig. He had a fair mix of hits and poetic tracks.

But Drake and Nelly both primarily serve(d) a similar audience and make/made songs that would play good with that crowd which isn’t necessarily the core hip hop base.

Nelly slightly better at hits and Drake slightly better at rapping.

I think Luda had a bit more respect as a rapper but your right. They were more like characters then dudes actually revered behind the scenes and on the mic. Doesn't change the fact that both were pretty huge superstars in their day

I knew your ass would be a simpleton and provide 2 examples out of his entire discography.

LL wouldn’t have been able to do entire mixtapes with street niggas. Never would’ve been on brand for him.

LL was big before rap was very street to begin with. Mama Said Knock You Out was (compared to the other hit songs of the time) one of the hardest rap songs out there.
