Is there an I'm single Drizzy version out there?

One of MANY artists who do

Like 95% of the artists that have a major label contract dont own their masters.

Thats why Drake,Kanye are working on full ownership on their music.

Its way too rare to be a Weeknd calibre superstar and to own 100% of your masters

You wouldn’t say this if Chris Brown didn’t own his masters

People will pretend thats not the case but thats effectively what happened.

The way Drake took advantage of being the bigger star to take a lot of his hits for Take Care, made him wiser not to get finessed more and sign with Drake.

Plus since never signed until around EOS release, with his buzz and a bidding war, he had enough leverage to get a good deal unlike most.

Weeknd broke it down in the Complex interview he did years ago if anyone needs source (IIRC).

This just isn't true. The Weeknd was involved with 4 songs on Take Care. Collaborative songs.

What song did Drake "take" ?

The original Crew Love mid lmao.

And Drake was mad he didn’t sign his slave deal.

This a classic example of people gravitating to lies they wish was true. If you followed Weeknd career you'd know this was true. They f***ed with each other way after Take Care. Did joint tours etc but fell out over petty s***

And all the time Drake shouted out XO, he never tried to lil boy Weeknd

    Ofc it was taking advantage.

"House of Balloons was actually supposed to have more >songs than it does. I had so many records left, and then Take Care came through. “Crew Love,” “Shot for Me,” and “The Ride” were supposed to be on House of Balloons. I wanted to come out with like 14 records. I felt like “The Ride” was the last one, and it wasn’t done yet. Drake heard it and he was like, “This s***’s crazy.”

"Do you think Drake tapped you to give Take Care that feel?"

Yeah, he told me he wouldn’t be able to do the album without me. You can read it on the credits that he thanked me. I don’t know if that’s him being generous, but I gave him a lot of records. I made “Practice.”*

The weekend on giving up half an album worth of hits: "I gave up almost half of my album. It’s hard.

    https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/sex-drugs-and-rb-inside-the-weeknds-dark-twisted-fantasy-176091/

Its taking advantage cause he had the guy give up half his album of hits, when in hindsight the Weekend is clearly talented enough to have broken into the industry without Drake. He didn't care about Drakes 'shine' in as much as he wanted to make it, and at the time he couldn't be sure he would.

Whereas Drake could have used one or two songs, or even I dont know - since he knew the songs are fire and not his, let the Weeknd have them as his own song, and take a % for his verses (since likely Weeknd couldn't pay him at the time). Instead Drake took those songs for himself and put them on his album (and therefore, are not part of his masters not the Weeknd's).

Let be clear, The Weeknd agreed to it and knew what he was doing at the time. Doesn't change the fact that Drake took advantage of his position to rob the guy of his catalogue. Thats why the Weeknd called it out subtley, and why Drake (and Noah) was spreading all that BS that Take care would have still been a 'classic' without them.

How do u use 'robbed' n 'agreed to' in the same sentence? You people man. Smh
