Take My Breath remix sounds straight out of 2014
I'm kinda f***ing with the sacrifice remix though, and i'm glad moth to a flame is on some incarnation of Dawn FM
Just found out OPN named himself after one of our states/citys local radio stations.
Thats fire
I have a friend that used to be a huge weeknd fan when trilogy came out. He fell off following his career because he didn’t like the “pop” direction he was taking with BBTM and Starboy.
He hits me up today and says this is his fav album since trilogy.
How’s that work if BBTM and Starboy were too much pop lmao.
yeah there are a few of us here that feel the same way

I guess it’s just surprising to me because this seems more pop than those

well i should clarify that pop was never really the issue for me. i love pop music
but to argue on the side of that, this one feels more dance and funk heavy than what he was doing at first and carries other different influences like new wave. also introducing a major new player in OPN to the production side of things differentiated things a bit. also the songs could just straight up be stronger now since he's been hanging around guys like max martin the last few years, he's bound to learn a thing or two.
so yeah it can be any assortment of those things, but there are people who prefer the older stuff too.
Moth to a flame was mid
Hearing it after having Dawn FM on repeat feels so underwhelming 😂 sounds so lifeless in comparison

Because BBTM and Starboy weren't that good
Solid albums, but nothing special
After Hours and this are pop classics tho

this pop is executed better than the stuff on starboy and bbtm. His pre-AH pop stuff lacked a clear vision imo. Now it feels like he found his stride

im so h**** i could create an entire now hole rn
I think people need to check their bias. We hear this ALL the time
Trilogy is not his best work at all, his last two albums are better significantly, not even close, lyric wise, production wise, sound design wise, etc
Aspiring musicians shouldn’t be afraid to make music and put out their first work because the general public will somehow think it’s the best thing they could ever do and everything they do after isn’t as good.
Good artists are ALWAYS improving.
I remember listening to glass table girls like a week ago and boy did that s*** sound awful. Abel couldn’t even sing on key.
It’s wild how people just cling on to something cause that’s what they grew up on and don’t even realize it’s because of bias.
Good kid is not Kendricks beat
Trilogy is not Abels best
Chanel Orange is not Frank’s Best
Old cartoons aren’t better
Old XYZ isn’t better than new XYZ, you’re just biased cause the old is what you grew up on.
No one would agree with this, but AH and DAWN are miles above trilogy in my opinion I would listen to that albums everyday over trilogy can’t even remember last day listening to trilogy.

Can anyone dub the hook of How Do I Make You Love Me over the dance scene?

breh watching this vid with How Do I make You Love Me in the background solidified what I already knew
