Okay, so radio is spamming the hell out of this record but it isn't doing so well on streaming. It's lost streams on US Spotify every day since it debuted (debuted with 1.7M streams, down to 900K streams) and it's already down to #16 on US Apple Music. Should still debut in the top 10 but it won't have the mega debut Abel and his team clearly wanted.

Why do you say mega debut like Abel and his team wanted? Thats never been their MO, with the exception of Heartless.

The Weeknd has now released:

• Take My Breath (single version)
• Take My Breath (instrumental)
• Take My Breath (extended version)

He also discounted the single, released a music video/lyric video and had a massive radio deal across several formats upon release.

Lol fair enough. Their single strategy has always been longevity > debut, I’m sure that’s still the case here.

I'm sure as well but they clearly wanted this to have a stronger start. Heartless peaked at #1 in it's second week but it only spent 2 weeks in the top 10 (it spent the second week in the top 10 following the release of After Hours), but after falling out, it lingered around the top 20/30 for about 5 months before falling out. All in all, it was a decent-sized hit but it wasn't a SMASH. Blinding Lights, on the other hand, didn't reach the top 10 until 12 weeks after it's release.

It's not surprising they want this to smash right away. They want that so the new era can begin but people clearly aren't ready to let go of Blinding Lights/Save Your Tears yet.
