just busy IRL
but I always come back here to lurk every now and then haha
Yes, because it was worked on until release, it doesn't play like a soundtrack album whatsoever
You just think that because the album was openly tied to the movie
Movie got people tweaking on the album smh

I still think it’s probably his best and most complete album - and I don’t think the movie is as bad as people say

son
son
Has a mix of everything and clear character progression
Don’t let the braindead era as a whole change your mind on the album

There’s a few personal gripes that prevent it from being his best project for me but for some to act like it doesn’t belong there is crazy
I’m hoping Abel can land an Uncut Gems style role again. That would get the ball rolling on reversing the public perception of his acting, if film is still one of his aspirations

What are those gripes?

Type s*** I need Abel on
What are those gripes?
The second half drags a bit compared to the first half. The features aren’t fully necessary. And although I’ve accepted (and love) the sequencing for what it is, the linear story of what we were understanding HUT to be didn’t exactly match that

Interesting
I’ve grown to love the second half
Agreed on features and story though
I guess that’s why a follow up makes sense
I just don’t like how it looks like we have a follow up to a supposed final album

I do feel like Abel & team are gonna try hard to craft a strong narrative around whatever is upcoming that will somehow tie everything together. But idk if it will stick. I feel like the entire era just left a sour taste in his mouth

there is no follow up
and if there is, he is dead as a creative

Technically he’s still The Weeknd
So releasing new songs is still fair game
Hurry Up Tomorrow album/movie is to me more of a manifesto of why he’s killing The Weeknd
seeing him live in less than two months
I feel you Fam, its starting to kick in
Where are you seeing him ?
