STARBOY?!????? The album filled with half filler and the other half just s*** tracklist choices?
Thats BBTM. Not Starboy
Am I the only one who hears 2013-15 vocals in that
i said it from the jump, but to me those first two lines ending with "my memory" sound hella bbtm

As much as I love After Hours, I wanted those vocals back so bad

BBTM should have been an EP, matter fact, shouldnât have been released imo. Could have been 3 singles and he would have been okay lol

Agreed lmaooo but it was the album that pushed him into the mainstream so I guess it was needed for him
Just not for us as fans

Theoretically, it should be my favourite Weeknd album but it just doesn't hit like the other projects do

I always consider BBTM and Starboy the albums where he is still trying to figure out what his sound is going to be in the Pop world. This current trilogy is him realizing what that is and perfecting it.
another great read. also, the depeche mode violator comparison was so spot on, i never really thought about it that way. it does kinda sound like something dave gahan after a quick rendez-vous with the devil would make + trap drums

Definitely
I mean even cutting out a few songs and rearranging the tracklist fixes a lot of issues I have with the album

i think itâs that and marking his place in the pop world, like after hours couldnât have made the waves it did if it wasnât for starboy and bbtm. he used those albums to show the world (and his label) just how much of a superstar he can be all while still staying true to himself. And this trilogy is using everything he has to his advantage. The global reach and stardom of the last two albums, and the artistic vision of the first trilogy and kiss land.

I like how he keeps going back to Kiss Land in ways with narratives and story lines in his albums with this trilogy. Audio movies are back, something he didnât do with BBTM and Starboy, MDM is like a little short film in audio form.
the real hot take I have is that I love BBTM
Massive hit singles & some good album cuts but also a lot of other tracks that miss the mark for me in my opinion.
Definitely
