he’s trapped and trying to get to heaven and get out, having to repeat what he’s already experienced will lead him to know how to escape.

The lyrics of Wake Me Up lead me to believe based off the artwork for DITF that it’s possible he’s falling away from the horizon and light. He’s confused as to whether he’s making it to heaven but still wants to pursue better and to be better. The visuals from the show for WMU show us that he’s trapped in purgatory still and wants to escape. Banging against the wall/glass, pleading almost, then he watches the show as the reflection repeats in his eye. Almost as if his soul is gone and it’s an empty vessel searching for the light and for a way out.
