Wake me up is the tmb of this album

i also thought about that, i feel like its sacrifice + take my breath

  • Sep 11, 2024

regarding Wake Me Up. do i hear right that besides the live guitar from Patrick, there is also a guitar part added on top of the bass hits in CDQ? if it is.... man, this groove might surpass sacrifice for me

    sounded much more raw live

I was joking lol it was raw vs a studio recording of course it'll sound different.

This is long enough of a high quality snippet to know I much prefer the live performance

    Sounds good to me ngl

It's just whatever phaser/doubler and the layering of the harmonies on the hook that stand out to me

i love the fact that in DITF he is being guided, “so grab the wheel, want you to be in control…you say hold tight.” seems to me to be a bit of a nod to Virgil (Dante’s guide in the divine comedy). this may seem like a stretch until we consider the chorus (“…we’ll be dancing in the flames”) being in reference to a christian/catholic idea of hell. and i suspect even those haunting looking trees are in reference to a specific marsh in Dante’s hell where a group of people have been turned into trees. this is furthered by a smaller hint of him saying “another odyssey” which is likely referencing homer’s odyssey, which is also referenced in the divine comedy directly.

even him saying, “i can’t wait to see your face” seems to be a reference to the whole inciting reason of dante’s journey to paradise, which is to be reunited with his love. it seems like abel is referencing how tight of a path he must follow to reach paradise, (maybe referencing the spider’s thread… @Abyssus ) and how if they fall off this path (“if i miss the brake”) they will be “dancing in the flames.”

i have a feeling this song is pretty indicative of the overarching story of this album…

    what you mean

It’s as groovy as Sacrifice but if they release it as a single I feel like it’ll be overshadowed by DITF and meet a similar fate of being unappreciated

SAU PAULO (or whatever tf the Anitta song is called) IS A F***ING BANGER AND I NEED IT NOW

Yup, it’ll reach a broader demographic and then both songs could potentially be used for NFL promo and more
